TI Georgia, Georgian branch of Transparency International, declared that Georgia needs effective policy for prevention of corruption at the high level of authority. “Despite reforms, conducted in this sphere since 2004, corruption remains a serious problem in Georgia”, the organization pointed.
“TI GEORGIA”: CHAIRMAN OF COMMUNICATION COMMISSION DOES NOT MEET ELIGIBILITY CRITERION
TI Georgia, Georgian branch of Transparency International, declared that chairman of National Communication Commission Kakha Bekauri does not meet eligibility criterion.
Bekauri has no academic degree, established by legislation for occupation of this position, the organization specified.
IN Q3, FDI IN GEORGIA INCREASED BY 17.6% Y-O-Y
Sakstat released estimation for the 3rd quarter, which says that foreign direct investments (FDI) in Georgia amounted for the period to $594.5 million. This volume by 17.6% exceeds the adjusted figures of the same period of 2016.
DEPUTY PREMIER: THE REINVESTMENT INDICATOR PRACTICALLY DOUBLED
First Deputy Premier Dmitry Kumsishvili pointed that reinvestments for 9 months of the year have totaled to $591 million, while their volume for the same period of 2016 amounted to $318 million. This practically means doubling, he stated.
IN Q3, TRANSPORT AND COMMUNICATIONS REMAIN A LEADER IN TERMS OF FDI
Sakstat released estimation for the 3rd quarter, which says that in total volume of foreign direct investments (FDI), made in Georgia for the period ($594.5 million), three largest sectors accounted for 61.6%.
The biggest share was made in transport and communications (as it was in the first two quarters of the year).
IN Q3, AZERBAIJAN AND TURKEY ACCOUNTED FOR ALMOST 50% OF TOTAL FDI IN GEORGIA
Sakstat released estimation for the 3rd quarter, which says that in total volume of foreign direct investments (FDI), made in Georgia for the period ($594.5 million), Azerbaijan and Turkey accounted for 49.2%.
Namely, FDI from Azerbaijan made up $154.1 million (25.9% of total volume), while from Turkey – $138.6 million (23.3%).
GEORGIA CONSIDERED ISSUES OF COOPERATION WITH CHINA DEVELOPMENT BANK
Today, Georgia’s First Deputy Premier Dimitri Kumsishvili held the meeting with Zheng Zhijie, president of China Development Bank.
As Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported, subject of the meeting was consideration of issues of cooperation within “One Belt, One Road” initiative.
IN AJARA RESORT GODERDZI, 4 NEW INVESTMENT PROJECTS TO BE IMPLEMENTED
The government of Ajara reported that 4 new investment projects will be added to Goderdzi Resorts.
Ajara Ministry of Finance and Economy signed agreements on investment projects with investors on January 10, within the winter season opening ceremony in alpine resort Goderdzi.
TBILISI CITY HALL: REHABILITATION OF ORBELIANI SQUARE AND ADJACENT TERRITORY WILL BE COMPLETED IN THE END OF 2018
Tbilisi City Hall declared that rehabilitation of Orbeliani Square and adjacent territory will be completed in the end of 2018. Cost of rehabilitation works totals to 52 million lari, which are allocated from the city budget.
REHABILITATION OF THE LEFT MAIN CANAL OF KVEMO SAMGORI IRRIGATION SYSTEM TO BE COMPLETED IN OCTOBER 2018
Agriculture Ministry reported that LLC Georgian Melioration conducts rehabilitation of the left main canal of Kvemo Samgori irrigation system in Kakheti region.
The project worth 4.82 million lari will be completed in October 2018, the Ministry said.
