THE GOVERNMENT: AID PACKAGE FOR PERSONS WITH ESSENTIAL DISABILITIES INCREASES BY 20 LARI
Georgian government decided to increase since January 1, 2019 the social package for over 75,000 persons with essential disabilities (the 2nd group). The package will be increased by 20 lari, up to 120 lari.
THE PARLIAMENTARY MINORITY POINTS AT WRONG SPENDING WITHIN UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE PROGRAM
Minority at Georgian Parliament declares that the government took in 2017 a step toward targeted healthcare policy, though badly thought-out and incorrect, so that led to deterioration of healthcare package for nearly one million citizens.
Moreover, that was not followed by more effective and focused on target groups spending of funds, allocated for universal healthcare program, parliamentary minority indicates, specifying that budget of the program increases also in 2019, by 50 million lari, reaching 754 million lari, but this growth will not bring any notable result.
BRANCH ECONOMY AND ECONOMIC POLICY COMMITTEE: DUE ATTENTION MUST BE PAID TO FUNCTIONING OF BODY OF PUBLIC-PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP
Committee on Branch Economy and Economic Policy of Georgian Parliament declared that due attention must be paid to functioning of body of public-private partnership.
Draft of the state budget-2019, similarly to the budget-2018, allocates 500,000 lari for this structure, the Committee pointed, noting however that as of 8 months of this year, the sum “is not used at all”.
COMMITTEE ON EUROPEAN INTEGRATION: TENDENCY PROCEEDS OF ALLOCATIONS’ DECREASE FOR DEVELOPMENT OF INNOVATIONS AND TECHNOLOGIES
Committee on European Integration of Georgian Parliament declared that tendency proceeds of decrease of allocations, envisaged for development of innovations and technologies.
In particular, year-on-year decrease of financing of the mentioned program made up 17% in 2018 (decrease – by 1.03 million lari) and 4% – in 2019 (by 200,000 lari), the Committee specified.
THE GOVERNMENT: WITHIN IFAD PROJECT, WORK IS UNDERWAY ON LAUNCH OF NEW PROGRAM IN LIVESTOCK FARMING
Georgian governments declared that within the project of International Fund for Agriculture Development (IFAD), work is underway on launch of the new program in livestock farming. Estimated cost of the program amounts to 60 million lari.
IN CURRENT WINTER NAVIGATION SEASON, NUMBER OF REGULAR FLIGHTS INCREASED BY 31%
From international airports of the country, on average 415 flights a week will be made during current winter navigation season, Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported. The Ministry noted that during the same period of previous year, number of weekly flights averaged to 317, i.e. year-on-year growth made up 31%.
TBILISI TECHNOLOGY PARK HOSTS GLOBAL WEEK OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP
Global Week of Entrepreneurship, which was started in Tbilisi Technology Park today, will last until November 18.
As Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development said, Global Week of Entrepreneurship is organized by Global Entrepreneurship Network in cooperation with the Ministry’s Agency of Innovations and Technologies.
