    “FEVER CENTERS” TO BE PREPARED IN ALL REGIONS OF GEORGIA

    Georgian government declared that so-called “fever centers” will be prepared in all regions of the country. Such decision was made at today’s meeting of interdepartmental coordination council on COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.

    IN 2019, GEORGIA’S FOREIGN DEBT MADE UP 105.1% OF GDP

    National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported that total foreign debt of the country amounted as of December 31, 2019, to $18.6 billion, making up 105.1% of GDP for 2019. As of December 31, 2018, the volume made up $17.8 billion, or 109.6% of GDP for 2018.


    IN 2019, NEGATIVE BALANCE OF GEORGIA’S PAYMENTS MADE UP 5.1% OF GDP

    National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported that negative balance of the country’s international payments amounted in 2019 to $897.3 million, making up 5.1% of GDP for 2019. Negative balance for 2019 is “historically the lowest”, NBG noted.


    IN Q4 OF 2019, GEORGIA’S NET INTERNATIONAL INVESTMENT POSITION WORSENED BY $1B

    National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported that net international investment position of the country as of December 31, 2019 was negative, amounting to $23.8 billion. This indicator has worsened quarter-on-quarter by $1 billion (by 4%).


    CRITERIA FOR EVALUATION OF ACTIVITY OF WATER SUPPLY COMPANIES ARE DEFINED

    Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulating Commission approved today criteria for evaluation of activity of water supply companies. Existing level and target marks of key indicators is individually determined to the companies, the Commission said.


    RULES OF CERTIFICATION OF TRANSMISSION SYSTEM OPERATOR ARE APPROVED

    Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulating Commission approved today rules of certification of operator of transmission system in sphere of electricity and natural gas. The rules fully envisage requirements of European directives, the Commission pointed.

    WITHIN THE PROJECT OF POTI PORT EXPANSION, “APM TERMINALS” GOT PERMISSION ON FIRST STAGE LAND USE

    “After detailed studying and expert examination of documents”, presented by APM Terminals, “we issued permission on the first stage land use” within the project of Poti seaport expansion, Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Natia Turnava declared today.

    She stressed that this is not the final permission, and the project’s details and structure still need specification, while environmental impact assessment report has to be prepared.

    ECONOMY MINISTER: NOW, OVER 4,200 PEOPLE ARE PLACED IN QUARANTINE MODE IN 64 HOTELS

    Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Natia Turnava reported that currently, over 4,200 people are placed because of COVID-19 pandemic in quarantine mode in 64 hotels of the country.

    “Though, following the need, number of quarantine spaces grows daily and in such situation, support from hotels is extremely important”, Turnava pointed.
