    GEORGIAN AND ABKHAZIAN SIDES DISCUSSED ISSUES OF “ENGURHES” REHABILITATION

    First Deputy Premier and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Dimitri Kumsishvili has visited part of EngurHES, located on the territory of Abkhazia (control center of hydroelectric station), the Ministry of Economy reported.

    As the Ministry said, Kumsishvili met representatives of Abkhazia’s energy company Chernomorenergo and discussed with them issues of rehabilitation of the hydroelectric station.

    REAL GDP GROWTH IN Q4 MADE UP 4.7%

    Sakstat released estimation for the 4th quarter of 2017, saying that real GDP growth for that period made up 4.7%. The growth rate for the whole 2017 made up 4.8%.


    IN Q4 OF 2017, REMITTANCES TO GEORGIA INCREASED BY 19.7% Y-O-Y

    National Bank of Georgia reported that remittances to Georgia amounted in the 4th quarter of 2017 to $383.42 million. If compared with the same period of 2016, the volume has increased by 20.1%.


    IN Q4 OF 2017, REMITTANCES FROM GEORGIA INCREASED BY 9.6% Y-O-Y

    National Bank of Georgia reported that remittances from Georgia amounted in the 4th quarter of 2017 to $58.2 million. If compared with the same period of 2016, the volume has increased by 9.6%.


    NEXT MEETING OF NBG’S MONETARY POLICY COMMITTEE TO BE HELD IN RUSTAVI

    Monetary Policy Committee will hold its next meeting on January 31 in Rustavi, National Bank of Georgia (NBG) declared.

    Besides, president of NBG will hold meetings with local business and representatives of financial institutions of Kvemo Kartli region.

    OPEN BUDGET SURVEY 2017 PLACED GEORGIA THE 5TH AMONG 115 COUNTRIES

    Open Budget Survey 2017 ranks Georgia with 82 points the 5th among 115 countries, Georgian Finance Ministry reported. The Survey was published by International Budget Partnership today.


    IN Q4 OF 2017, “GOLDEN CROWN” SERVED MOST REMITTANCES FROM AND TO GEORGIA

    National Bank of Georgia reported that in total remittances to Georgia for the 4th quarter of 2017 ($383.42 million), 25.2% was served by Golden Crown. Through this system, $96.7 million was transferred to the country, increasing in volume by 17.2% year-on-year.


    PUBLIC-PRIVATE DIALOGUE HELD ON PROBLEMS OF SMALL AND MEDIUM BUSINESS

    Today dialogue between public and private sectors was held on problems of small and medium business, the Parliament reported.

    The dialogue was organized at the Parliament’s Committee on Branch Economy and Economic Policy within USAID-funded project “Initiative of Democratic Governance”.

    INTERIOR MINISTRY: CRIME RATE IN 2017 INCREASED BY 5.4%,

    Interior Ministry reported that total 37,944 crimes were registered in 2017, increasing in number by 5.4% year-on-year.

    At that, rate of crime detection in the reporting year made up 53.2%, against of 57.4% in 2016, the Ministry said.


    TBILISI MAYOR: KINDERGARTENS, SPORT CENTERS, METRO STATIONS ARE THOROUGHLY EXAMINED

    Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze declared that the City Hall thoroughly examines objects in the capital – kindergartens, sport centers, metro stations.

    The Mayor declared this at the briefing, held in connection with today’s accident at Varketili metro station (collapse of counter ceiling).
