2. EX-PRESIDENT OF NBG: MAIN REASON OF LARI DEVALUATION ARE PROBLEMS IN THE COUNTRY’S ECONOMY

   Head of Center for Economic Development and former president of National Bank of Georgia (NBG) Roman Gotsiridze considers that “main reason of lari devaluation are problems in the country’s economy, which are reinforced by unhealthy budget and which are influenced (non-essentially though) by external factors”.

   “They are searching for new reasons of lari devaluation, (…) approaching now to remittances”, Gotsiridze wrote on his Facebook page and added: “Despite decline of remittances in ending months of the last year in comparison with the same period of 2013, decrease through a year was insignificant”.

   Due to amendments to Budgetary Code, which entered in force by the end of 2014, the budget organizations must have accounts only in single account system of the state treasury.

4. MP JAPARIDZE: RESTORATION OF REGULAR AIR TRAFFIC BETWEEN GEORGIA AND RUSSIA WITH CURRENT CONDITIONS IS DANGEROUS FOR THE COUNTRY

   “Restoration of regular air traffic between Georgia and Russia with conditions, which were offered by Kremlin and which were unconditionally accepted by Georgian government, is categorically unacceptable”, declared MP Zurab Japaridze from oppositional United National Movement.

   “If this agreement is implemented, most likely, Russian air companies (including owned by the state and personally by Putin) will enter Georgian market with dumping prices”, said Japaridze.

   Zurab Japaridze, executive secretary of United National Movement, declares that “event most felt for population by the end of previous as well as by the end of this year, is devaluation of lari”.

   Devaluation of lari is followed by price increase on drugs and foodstuff, Japaridze declared in live show of broadcasting company Tabula.

   The newspaper reports that authorities plan imposition of restrictions on subsidized import, i.e. on import, implemented from countries, which subsidize it.

   As one of this initiative’s reasons, head of the Parliament’s committee on branch economy Zurab Tkemaladze names subsidy of 30% on agricultural production in Turkey.

   After Imereti, Kakheti and Racha-Lechkhumi – Kvemo Svaneti regions, the government’s report on 2-year activity was presented in Samtskhe-Javakheti and Shida Kartli regions.

   At the presentation, governor of Shida Kartli region Zurab Rusishvili declared that 1.55 million lari was spent on 9 water wells, drilled within infrastructural projects near so-called dividing line (i.e. nearby territory, occupied by Russia).

    Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI) reports that highest bonuses in 2013 were issued by administration of Imereti governor – 111,099 lari.

    Oppositional United National Movement declares that approval of budget-2015 is unacceptable without pension growth for all retired pensioners, the magazine reports. Last growth of retirement pension the Parliament “approved in 2012, at the expense of the budget, left by National Movement, and pension has reached 150 lari”, the party notes.
