   United National Movement states that degrading by Fitch Ratings of outlook for Georgia from “positive” to “stable” means that the agency does not assume considerable advance of economy of Georgia in long-term period.

   According to member of this opposition party, MP Zurab Japaridze, the agency forecasts considerable deterioration of economic indicators of Georgia in the current year, while the government tries to settle a problem with cosmetic actions only.

3. Tabula: “FOR RELATIONS WITH RUSSIA, ABASHIDZE AND HIS CONSULTANT RECEIVED 251,681 LARI”

   According to TI Georgia, Georgian branch of Transparency International, special representative of Georgian Prime Minister in relationships with Russia and his consultant received since November 2012 to the present the payment of 251,681 lari.

   In particular, 187,681 lari was paid to special representative Zurab Abashidze, and 64,000 lari – to his consultant Giorgi Kajaia.

   According to the government’s resolution of December 31, 2014, new methodology of census of socially unprotected population had to come into force on April 1. However, by resolution of March 31, the government postponed that deadline for May 1, notes United National Movement (UNM).

   The matter concerns credit, which Georgian Greenhouse Corporation (which single owner is Co-Investment Fund) took for greenhouse construction within state project of preferential agrolending from bank Cartu.

   Executive secretary of National Movement Zurab Japaridze says that the Prime Minister of Georgia “brought many figures and spoke on how economic situation improves” at the government meeting on April 1.

   “Apparently, the Prime Minister congratulated population of Georgia on day of lies”, the oppositional MP declares and explains: “Lie is not only to bring wrong numbers, but lie is also concealing of figures, which politically do not suit you”.

   Zurab Meparidze, director general of Georgian franchising company of KFC, speaks about plans with the newspaper.

   According to Meparidze, the first branch of KFC was opened in Tbilisi, on Peking Avenue, several months ago, while the second one will open in mid-April in hypermarket Goodwill in Saburtalo district of the capital.

    Businessmen declare that tax inspection, dragged up for months, and following long legal dispute prevent development of their business, the newspaper reports.

    In response, Revenue Service declares that for them, “allegations of increasing number of tax inspections are unclear – on the contrary, number of inspections has decreased, as the Service turned to risk-based audit”.

    In an interview with the newspaper, chairman of supervisory council of Telavi Wine Cellar Zurab Ramazashvili says that wines of the company are presented in 22 countries. Wines are delivered to the post-Soviet countries, 10 countries of Europe, Asia, South and North America, including Cuba and Panama, he declares.

13. INTERIOR MINISTRY: HEAD OF FINANCIAL DEPARTMENT OF “UNITED COMPANY OF WATER SUPPLY OF GEORGIA” APPROPRIATED OVER 2M LARI

    Interior Ministry declared that head of financial department of United Company of Water Supply of Georgia Tamar Pkhovelishvili appropriated budgetary funds of 2.23 million lari during the period from March 31, 2013 to December 31, 2014.

    To remind, Regional Development and Infrastructure Ministry applied to anti-corruption department of Interior Ministry on February 4, requesting investigation of inconsistences, revealed during analysis of accounting reports of United Company of Water Supply of Georgia for 2014.

14. PREMIER’S SPECIAL REPRESENTATIVE IN RELATIONSHIP WITH RUSSIA: WE HAVE TO AGREE WITH RUSSIAN SIDE WHEN WE BEGIN IMPLEMENTATION OF AGREEMENT, SIGNED IN 2011

    Zurab Abashidze, Georgian Prime Minister’s special representative in relationship with Russia, declared today that “we have to agree with Russian side when we begin practical implementation” of agreement, signed in 2011.

    Speaking at a briefing in administration of the government, Abashidze pointed that the agreement concerns “the basic principles, connected to mechanism of customs administration and monitoring of commodity trade between the government of Georgia and the government of Russia” and noted that its implementation will be “one of central topics of meeting with Grigory Karasin”, Russian deputy foreign minister.

15. MAIN PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE OF GEORGIA: UKRAINE REFUSES TO EXTRADITE WANTED MIKHEIL SAAKASHVILI AND ZURAB ADEISHVILI

    Main Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia declared that despite obligations, existing between the countries in sphere of extradition, Ukraine refused to extradite Georgia’s ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili and ex-Minister of Justice Zurab Adeishvili.

    Ukrainian side “did not cooperate with the Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia in issue of extradition to Georgia” of the mentioned wanted persons, the Main Prosecutor’s Office said in the statement, released today.

16. Tabula: “BERUCHASHVILI: I DID NOT MEAN TERMINATION OF TRADE RELATIONS OR DIALOGUE WITH RUSSIA”

    The article reports that in an interview, broadcasted by Radio Liberty, Foreign Minister Tamar Beruchashvili said that Russia and Georgia suspended an informal dialogue on trade issues and Georgia might also introduce sanctions and visa restriction against Russia because of events in Ukraine.

    However, in an interview with Voice of America, Beruchashvili explains that she did not mean termination of trade relations or dialogue with Russia.

    MP from oppositional National Movement Zurab Japaridze declared that devaluation of lari has caused serious problems to Georgia’s population.

    Lari devaluation has seriously damaged pensioners, socially unprotected persons, police officers, servicemen and all those people, who gets wage or pension from the state, the MP said.

20. INTERIOR MINISTER RESIGNED

    Interior Minister Aleksandre Chikaidze has tendered today his resignation to Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili. The Premier, who takes part in Davos World Economic Forum, has said already that he will satisfy Chikaidze’s request.
