    Disagreements between Georgia’s President and the Georgian Dream began after start of hostilities in Ukraine, when Salome Zurabishvili criticized the Georgian government due to excessively and, in her opinion, unjustifiably cautious position in respect to Russian invasion, the newspaper says.

    Speaking in Parliament on March 14, Zurabishvili said that the government had blocked her visits to the West, but she still managed to hold personal meetings with Western leaders.

    The President said that office of the State Minister for the EU Integration (cancelled some time ago) should be created urgently and suggested to appoint representative of opposition at the post.

    Zurab Azarashvili, Georgia’s Minister of IDPs from Occupied Territories, Labor, Healthcare and Social Protection, declared that starting from April, Georgian doctors will be permitted to prescribe only generics. Upon prescription, doctor will not be permitted to specify a specific brand, he noted.

    A month ago, the market was opened for Turkey and now, “several dozen names of Turkish medicines have entered Georgian pharmacies”, declared today Zurab Azarashvili, Georgia’s Minister of IDPs from Occupied Territories, Labor, Healthcare and Social Protection.

    “Prices are sharply low, in some cases by 80-90% lower than they were a week ago and a month ago”, the Minister pointed.

  5. GEORGIA DECLARES SOLIDARITY TO UKRAINE

    In connection with Russia’s invasion in Ukraine, Georgia’s President Salome Zurabishvili said today that “as President of Georgia, President of the country, which suffered similar aggression, I would like to express our full solidarity with the President, the government and the people of Ukraine”.

    Georgian President indicated necessity “in any format, either at extraordinary session of the Parliament or expanded meeting of Security Council, to express all together that we, as the whole nation, stand for Ukraine, its sovereignty and territorial integrity, and for peace”.

The Ministry noted that Pololikashvili was approved by 85 votes “pro” against of 26 votes “contra”.

    In the period from June 1, 2020 to September 15, 2021, there were 4,500 simplified contracts for public procurement of construction services were signed, having total cost of 125 million lari, reported TI Georgia, Georgian branch of Transparency International.

    TI Georgia indicated that out of all simplified public procurement, contracts of 33.8 million lari (27% of the total volume) were signed with companies, having ties with individuals who donated funds to the ruling Georgian Dream or President Salome Zurabishvili.

    Because of these results, there will be the 2nd round of elections in Tbilisi, where Kaladze and Melia will compete for the post of Mayor.
