    Starting from 2023, the state will set upper limit for price of medicines and prohibit their sale for the higher cost, said Zurab Azarashvili, Georgia’s Minister of IDPs from Occupied territories, Labor, Healthcare and Social Protection. The change will affect over 1,100 medicines for chronic and oncological diseases, he specified.

    Zurab Azarashvili, Georgia’s Minister of IDPs from Occupied Territories, Labor, Healthcare and Social Protection, declared that from November 1, medical institutions of the country will turn to a new funding model, based on diagnosis-related groups (DRG).

    “Tens of thousands of services, for which tariffs have been determined, will be calculated already according to the DRG methodology, and for a specific medical intervention, the tariff will be calculated in accordance with the base tariff and the DRG weight”, the Minister told journalists after the government meeting today.

    The Minister Zurab Azarashvili said that as a result of opening of the Turkish pharmaceutical market, the Georgian population will save annually about 180-200 million lari.
