GEORGIAN PRIME MINISTER AND SAUDI ADVISORY ASSEMBLY CHAIRMAN DISCUSSED DEEPENING OF COOPERATION OF TWO COUNTRIES
Today, Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili met with chairman of Consultative Assembly (Majlis Ash-Shura) of Saudi Arabia Abdullah ibn Muhammad Al ash-Sheikh.
The consideration has touched upon positive dynamics of relations development between two countries and interest was expressed to further deepening of economic cooperation, administration of Georgian government reported.
CIVIL ORGANIZATIONS URGE TO CONSIDER SITUATION IN “PUBLIC BROADCASTER” IN THE PARLIAMENT
Non-governmental organizations urge the Parliament to get interested in situation in Public Broadcaster and to hold public hearings on fulfillment of obligations.
The statement, released today, is signed by 29 organizations, including TI Georgia (Georgian branch of Transparency International), International Society for Fair Elections and Democracy (ISFED), Open Society – Georgia Foundation (OSGF), Georgian Young Lawyers Association (GYLA), Georgian Democratic Initiative (GDI), Media Development Fund (MDF), etc.
BUDGETARY OFFICE OF THE PARLIAMENT: GDP GROWTH IN Q4 TO MAKE UP 4.1%
Budgetary Office of Parliament expects that economic growth in the 4th quarter will make up 4.1%. That rate by 1.4 percentage points exceeds indicator of the same period of 2016, the Office specifies.
FACTUAL EXPENDITURE OF THE STATE BUDGET FOR JANUARY-SEPTEMBER MADE UP 96.4% OF THE PLAN
Treasury Service of the Finance Ministry reported that adjusted allocations from the state budget amounted for the first 9 months to 6.88 billion lari (75.5% of the annual volume). At that, factual expenditure made up 96.4% of this sum.
REVENUES FROM TOURISM FOR 9 MONTHS INCREASED BY 28.5% Y-O-Y
National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported that revenues from tourism amounted for January-September to $2.16 billion. If compared with the same period of 2016, the volume has increased by 28.5%, NBG noted.
NBG: RECENT CHANGE OF LARI EXCHANGE RATE WAS CAUSED MAINLY BY STRONG EXPECTATION OF AUTUMN DEPRECIATION
National Bank of Georgia (NBG) estimates that “recent change of lari exchange rate was caused mainly by strong expectation of autumn depreciation”.
“In spite of absence of real ground for this expectation, nevertheless, in the conditions of a floating rate, it has impacted short-term dynamics of lari exchange rate, increasing demand for foreign currency”, NBG said in the statement, released today.
NBG: DOMESTIC DEMAND REMAINS WEAK
National Bank of Georgia (NBG) pointed that “domestic demand remains weak” in the country.
In particular, despite nominal growth, rate of real annual growth of private consumption in the 2nd quarter became negative, making up 0.6%, NBG said.
INCOME OF ENTERPRISES, ENGAGED IN POSTAL AND EXPRESS MAIL SERVICES, AMOUNTED FOR 2016 TO 53M LARI
Referring to own study, Sakstat reported that income of enterprises, engaged in postal and express mail services, amounted in 2016 to 53 million lari.
Out of total, share of income from international postal and express mail services accounted for 67.8% (against of 63% in 2015), while the rest was income from local services, Sakstat specified.
TBILISI HOSTS THE 6TH SEASON OF “MERCEDES-BENZ FASHION WEEK”
