    MINISTER OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AND AGRICULTURE: STRUCTURAL REORGANIZATION OF THE AGENCIES IS ACCOMPLISHED

    Georgia’s Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Levan Davitashvili declared that structural reorganization of the agencies, subordinated to his ministry, is accomplished.

    After the reorganization, the Agency for Agricultural Cooperatives’ Development merged with the Agency for Agricultural Projects’ Management and will continue operation as the Agency for Rural and Agricultural Development, the Minister reported after the government meeting today.

    ANNUAL INFLATION IN JULY MADE UP 4.6%

    Sakstat reported that annual inflation in July made up 4.6%, while monthly rate was negative (i.e. deflation), making up 0.02%.

    At that, Sakstat declared that in order to exclude from inflation the effect, caused by raise of excise on tobacco products, it will start publishing of inflation rate, in which tobacco price is excluded, in parallel with regular inflation rate.


    PRIME MINISTER: WE HAVE EXPECTATIONS THAT THE LARI WILL RETURN TO ITS NATURAL AND STEADY MARK

    Georgia’s Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze declared that “current events in economy are healthy, steady, sustained and lari was excessively depreciated”.

    “It was promoted, unfortunately, by negative background of the last several weeks and negative expectations, caused by this background”, he explained.


    PRIME MINISTER: SUBSIDIZING OF TRANSIT FLIGHTS FROM RUSSIA IS CONNECTED WITH OUR OBLIGATION TO GEORGIA’S CITIZENS

    Subsidizing of transit flights from Russia to Georgia via other countries is “very simple decision, which is connected with elementary responsibility and our obligation to citizens of Georgia”, Georgia’s Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze declared at the news briefing before the government meeting today.

    As the Premier explained, “Many citizens of Georgia live in the Russian Federation.


    ECONOMY MINISTRY: SAUDI ARABIA IS INTERESTED IN COOPERATION WITH GEORGIA IN EXPORT OF AGRIPRODUCTS

    Saudi Arabia is interested in cooperation with Georgia in terms of agriproducts’ export, Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development declared.

    Trade and economic relations of two countries and opportunities for their development were discussed at the meeting today between the Minister Natia Turnava and Saudi ambassador in Georgia Abdullah Al-Mutairi.


    ADB ALLOCATES $415M FOR THE PROJECT OF KVESHETI-KOBI HIGHWAY

    Asian Development Bank (ADB) declared about approval of allocation of $415 million for construction of the new highway in Georgia.

    The matter concerns the project of 23-km bypass road of Kvesheti-Kobi, “the first in a series of upgrades planned for the North-South Corridor”, which construction is planned to start in 2020.


    PRIME MINISTER: EBRD WILL FUND OUR PROCUREMENT OF NEW BUSES

    Georgia’s Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze declared about successful completion of negotiations with EBRD, which were held in connection with the government’s plans on procurement of new buses.

    “We will buy 100 new buses for Kutaisi, Gori, Telavi, Zugdidi, Rustavi and Poti”, the Premier said at the news briefing before the government meeting today (he did not name volume of required financing).


    PRIME MINISTER: DIAGNOSTICS FOR INCLUSION IN THE STATE PROGRAM OF HEPATITIS C ELIMINATION WILL BE FREE OF CHARGE

    Medical diagnostics for inclusion in the state program of elimination of hepatitis C will be completely free of charge, Georgia’s Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze declared at the news briefing before the government meeting today. Until now, citizens had to spend from 140 to 360 lari for these tests, he noted.

    “TBC BANK” SIGNED AGREEMENT ON TRADE ADVANCES REIMBURSEMENT WITH “CITIBANK”

    TBC Bank Group declared that its subsidiary TBC Bank has signed Continuing Agreement for Reimbursement of Trade Advances (CARTA) with Citibank.

    “The trade finance framework agreement will primarily be used to finance trade activities of local importers and exporters in Georgia”, the group said.
