GEORGIAN PREMIER: GEORGIA’S INTEGRATION IN NATO SEEKS FACILITATION TO GLOBAL SAFETY, BUT NOT CREATION OF DANGER TO SOMEONE
Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia declared that “Georgia’s integration in NATO is decision of our citizens” and, according to recent polls, full integration of the country in NATO is supported by 71% of Georgian citizens.
At that, the Premier stressed that “Georgia’s integration in NATO seeks facilitation to regional and global security, but not to creation of danger to someone”.
PRIME MINISTER: COORDINATED WORK OF THE GOVERNMENT, THE PARLIAMENT AND NBG IS IMPORTANT
Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia declared that coordinated work of the government, the Parliament and National Bank of Georgia (NBG) “is important in order there was obvious economic growth, affecting everyday life of our citizens”.
“As a result of collaboration, the budget appeared quite balanced, reflecting social responsibility of the state, but reflects also fiscal discipline and capital expenses of the government”, the Premier declared at the government meeting today.
ALLOCATIONS OF STATE BUDGET-2020 BY 6.7% EXCEED THE VOLUME, ENVISAGED BY AMENDED BUDGET-2019
Draft of Georgia’s state budget-2020, submitted by the government to the Parliament, envisages volume of allocation totaling to 14.21 billion lari. Out of total, share of budgetary funds is about 13 billion lari, credits – 1.17 billion lari, while grants – 45 million lari.
IN 2020, BUDGET OF THE MINISTRY OF IDPS FROM OCCUPIED TERRITORIES, LABOR, HEALTHCARE AND SOCIAL PROTECTION TO MAKE UP 30.6% OF TOTAL BUDGETARY PAYMENTS
Draft of Georgia’s state budget-2020, submitted by the government to the Parliament, envisages financing of the Ministry of IDPs from Occupied Territories, Labor, Healthcare and Social Protection, amounting to 4.35 billion lari, i.e. 30.6% of total budgetary payments.
According to explanatory note, enclosed to the draft, the financing increases in comparison with the volume, envisaged in the budget-2019, by 378.6 million lari (or by 9.5%).
ECONOMY MINISTER: IN RESPECT OF PRIVATIZATION, WE ARE MOVING NOT BAD, BUT WE ARE NOT HAPPY UP TO THE END
“In respect of privatization, we are moving not bad, but we are not happy up to the end”, Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Natia Turnava declared.
“When there are talks that privatization of property worth up to 150 million lari is possible, these are not general statements, but they are based on achievements of this year and understanding and recognition of problems, which are collected in this direction”, Turnava noted.
FINANCE MINISTRY HOSTED CONSIDERATION OF COOPERATION WITH WB
Georgia’s Finance Minister Ivane Machavariani met today in Tbilisi with representatives of the World Bank (WB).
As the Finance Ministry said, the parties discussed issues of cooperation between Georgia and the WB.
EBRD APPROVED ALLOCATION OF $60M FOR CONSTRUCTION OF KVESHETI-KOBI TUNNEL
Georgian Roads Department reported that EBRD approved allocation of $60 million in co-financing of construction of 9-km Kvesheti-Kobi tunnel (a component of North-South corridor).
As the Department noted, Asian Development Bank (ADB) already allocated $415 million for construction of Kvesheti-Kobi road and the mentioned tunnel, while Georgian government will provide co-financing of $83.6 million.
THE EU AND AFD ASSIST TO NEW PROJECT IN GEORGIA’S AGRARIAN SPHERE
Georgian Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture reported that European Neighborhood Program for Agriculture and Rural Development (ENPARD) and French Development Agency (AFD) are launching new project in the country.
The project aims improvement of finance availability to small commercial farms and cooperatives, the Ministry noted.
FOREST INVENTORY WORKS STARTED IN GEORGIA
Georgian Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture reported that forest inventory works are started in the country, being supported by the EU and the UN Development Program (UNDP). At the initial stage, the project applies to 4 selected municipalities.
IN TWO VILLAGES OF MARNEULI MUNICIPALITY, IRRIGATION SYSTEM TO BE REHABILITATED
Georgian Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture declared that after 30 years of inactivity, irrigation system will resume operation in the villages of Khikhani and Shaumyani of Marneuli municipality (Kvemo Kartli region).
According to the Ministry, the state budget-2020 (which draft is submitted to the Parliament for consideration) envisages 2.15 million lari for implementation of the project.
