IN Q1, GEORGIA’S AGROFOOD EXPORT TO THE EU INCREASED BY 37.2% Y-O-Y
Georgia’s export of agrofood production to EU countries amounted in the 1st quarter to $42.5 million, Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture reported. If compared with the same period of 2017, the volume has increased by 37.2%, the Ministry said.
FINANCE MINISTER: WE CONSIDERED POSSIBILITY OF EXPANSION OF ADB PORTFOLIO IN GEORGIA
Georgian Finance Ministry reported that the Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze considered issues of cooperation with president of Asian Development Bank (ADB) Takehiko Nakao within the annual meeting of ADB board of governors, which took place in Manila (Philippines).
As Bakhtadze said, possibility was considered of that ADB “expanded its portfolio in Georgia in order to allow us to fund more infrastructure projects”.
NEW COMPONENT OF “PRODUCE IN GEORGIA” STATE PROGRAM IS APPROVED
Within “Produce in Georgia” state program, new component is approved, Economy and Sustainable Development Ministry’s Agency Produce in Georgia reported, specifying that the matter concerns direction of meat and food sub-products with commodity code 02071410. The decision was made at the government meeting today.
STUDY TO BE CONDUCTED IN CONNECTION WITH BROWN MARMORATED STINK BUG
Works will be conducted on studying of biology and identification of biological enemies of brown marmorated stink bug (the pest) in conditions of Georgia, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture declared. Draft of the corresponding order was approved by the government.
5M LARI ALLOCATED TO 6 MUNICIPALITIES FOR DISASTER RELIEF
At the meeting today, government decided to allocate 5 million lari for elimination of damage, caused by nature in 2017-2018.
The funds will be distributed to municipalities of Ozurgeti, Tkibuli, Sachkhere, Kutaisi, Tsalenjikha and Lanchkhuti.
GEORGIA TO HOST FORUM OF CULTURAL ROUTES IN 2021
In 2021, Annual Advisory Forum of the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe will take place in Georgia, Georgia government announced. The government said that such decision was made at the meeting of governing board of the Council of Europe Enlarged Partial Agreement on Cultural Routes (EPA), which was held on April 18-19 in Luxembourg.
RENEWED TERMINAL OF KUTAISI AIRPORT TO BE OPENED IN EARLY 2019
Renewed terminal of Kutaisi airport will be opened at the beginning of 2019, after finish of complete rehabilitation of the airport, the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development declared. The Ministry noted that 90% of reinforced-concrete constructional works are already completed.
“MERCEDES-BENZ FASHION WEEK” ATTRACTED 44 GEORGIAN AND FOREIGN DESIGNERS
Today, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week was opened in Tbilisi for the 7th time, which will last until May 7. According to organizers, 44 Georgian and foreign designers will present within the event autumn and winter collections of 2018-2019.
