    FOUNDER OF “TBC BANK” SPEAKS ABOUT THREAT FROM INTERIOR MINISTER

    Mamuka Khazaradze, founder shareholder and already former chairman of supervisory council of Georgia’s largest TBC Bank, declared that before the second round of presidential elections in Georgia (November 28, 2018), he allegedly received the letter from one of the high-ranks, who “directly threatens that he will destroy our reputation locally and internationally”.

    Khazaradze said this in the Parliament, while speaking at the meeting of Fiscal Committee today, specifying later to MPs that the letter was sent by the Interior Minister.


    FOUNDER OF “TBC BANK” SPEAKS ABOUT POSSIBLE DANGER TO ANAKLIA PORT PROJECT

    Mamuka Khazaradze, founder shareholder and already former chairman of supervisory council of Georgia’s largest TBC Bank, indicated possible danger to the project of Anaklia port.

    While speaking at the meeting of Georgian Parliament’s Fiscal Committee today, Khazaradze declared that study of the project of Anaklia port by all international banks is already completed and agreements for total investments of $600 million have to be signed in May-June.


    FOUNDER OF “TBC BANK”: I CONTINUE LAWSUIT AGAINST NBG AND PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE

    Mamuka Khazaradze, founder shareholder and already former chairman of supervisory council of Georgia’s largest TBC Bank, declared that he continues lawsuit against National Bank of Georgia (NBG) and Georgian Prosecutor’s Office. “What was made against us, exceeded all norms”, he specified.


    SECRETARY GENERAL OF ICC-GEORGIA: MOST URGENT MATTER IS TO FREE THE JUDICIARY FROM POLITICAL PRESSURE

    The most urgent matter is to free the Judiciary from any political pressure, get the necessary tools for a civil society that would act as a whistleblower whenever things go wrong, Zurab Kachkachishvili, secretary general of the International Chamber of Commerce in Georgia (ICC Georgia) said in an interview to Caucasian Journal.

    Kachkachishvili pointed also that “business should be free from any kind of pressure from the authorities side, which ultimately is the reflection of a healthy democratic society”.

    ANNUAL INFLATION IN FEBRUARY MADE UP 2.3%

    Sakstat reported that annual inflation in February made up 2.3%. If compared with previous month (i.e. January), inflation made up 0.3%.


    ECONOMY MINISTRY: CHECKUP COST FOR CARS WITH ELECTRIC ENGINE DECREASED BY 20%

    Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development declared about decrease by 20% of checkup cost for electric cars of M1 category (no more than 8 seats, besides the driver).

    Corresponding amendment is made to regulation of technical inspection of vehicles.


    ENERGY DEVELOPMENT FUND: IN VILLAGE OF SHATILI, “BETEKHIHES-1” WILL BE BUILT

    In alpine village of Shatili (Dusheti municipality of Mtskheta-Mtianeti region), 250-kW BetekhiHES-1 will be built, Georgian Energy Development Fund declared.

    According to the Fund, procurement of necessary works within this project is planned to conduct in this month.

    GEORGIA HAS 19 STATE AND 44 PRIVATE HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS

    Sakstat declared that as of academic year 2018/2019, Georgia has 19 state and 44 private higher education institutions.

    If compared with the previous academic year, number of higher education institutions has decreased by 12, Sakstat said.


    EMC: EMPLOYEES OF “ELMAVALMSHENEBELI” WILL HOLD ACTION, DEMANDING IMPROVEMENT OF WORKING CONDITIONS

    Human Rights Education and Monitoring Center (EMC) declared that employees of JSC Elmavalmshenebeli (Tbilisi electric locomotive plant) plan to hold action on March 5 with demands of working conditions’ improvement.

    According to employees, they have been unpaid during 6 months already, EMC reported.
