    “TI GEORGIA”: IN RESPECT OF PROCUREMENTS OF KAKHETI MUNICIPALITIES, REASONABLE SUSPICION ARISES THAT THERE IS SYSTEM PROBLEM OF CORRUPTION

    “In connection of procurements, conducted by 8 municipalities of Kakheti region within the last 8 years, there is a reasonable suspicion that we deal with system problem of corruption there”, said TI Georgia, Georgian branch of Transparency International.

    The organization has studied tenders and simplified procurements, conducted by the mentioned municipalities in 2013-2020.


    TBILISI CENTRAL PARK WILL BE ARRANGED ON TERRITORY OF FORMER HIPPODROME

    Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze declared that central park of Georgian capital will be arranged on territory of the former hippodrome (36 ha in Saburtalo district).

    As the Mayor reported on the presentation today, this territory was bought out from private owners and donated to the municipality by Cartu fund (charity, founded by Bidzina Ivanishvili, billionaire leader of ruling Georgian Dream).

    THE PARLIAMENT STARTED CONSIDERATION OF DRAFT BUDGET-2021

    Georgian Parliament announced that consideration of the draft state budget-2021 is started today in of committees and fractions. On October 16, the Fiscal Committee will be gathered for summarizing meeting.


    IN 2019, TBILISI ACCOUNTED FOR 75.1% OF GEORGIAN ENTERPRISES’ TOTAL TURNOVER AND 62.7% OF THEIR TOTAL OUTPUT

    Sakstat released adjusted data, according to which share of Tbilisi in total turnover of Georgian enterprises in 2019 (109 billion lari) made up 75.1%, or 81.8 billion lari. If compared with 2018, volume of Tbilisi turnover has increased by 28%.


    INVESTMENT LOCATIONS CONSULTANTS FROM BELGIUM AND THE US VISIT GEORGIA AGAIN

    Produce in Georgia State Agency reported that investment locations consultants from Belgium and the US are visiting Georgia already for the second time (October 6-8). The visit is organized by the Agency with assistance of USAID.

    THE GOVERNMENT: PROHIBITION OF PASSENGER TRAFFIC IN MARCH-JUNE CAUSED SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE TO “GEORGIAN RAILWAY”

    Prohibition of passenger traffic, imposed because of COVID-19 pandemic in March-June of this year, caused significant damage to Georgian Railway, Georgian government indicated in review of the state-owned companies’ financial performance, presented to the Parliament (the review was enclosed to the draft state budget-2021).

    The mentioned loss was compensated slightly by saving of expenses on repair and business trips, the document noted.


    BECAUSE OF COVID-19, REVENUES OF “TBILISI TRANSPORT COMPANY” DECREASED BY 15%

    Revenues of Tbilisi Transport Company for 2020 have decreased in comparison with 2019 by 15% (by about 40 million lari) because of COVID-19 pandemic, Georgian government indicated in review of the state-owned companies’ financial performance, presented to the Parliament (the review was enclosed to the draft state budget-2021).

    As the government noted, monthly average income of Tbilisi Transport Company prior to start of the pandemic made up 13 million lari.


    “TEGETA MOTORS” FINISHED H1 WITH LOSS

    LLC Tegeta Motors reported loss of 5.4 million lari for the first half of this year. According to report of the company, the volume has decreased by 12.5% year-on-year.
