    “GEORGIAN DREAM” NOT TO NOMINATE OWN PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE

    “After discussion, in consent, the principal decision is made that Georgian Dream will not nominate own candidate at presidential elections”, speaker of Georgian Parliament Irakli Kobakhidze declared.

    Kobakhidze, who is also executive secretary of the ruling party, declared this after meeting of political council of Georgian Dream, parliamentary majority and the government members today.

    AS OF JULY 1, RATIO OF DEPOSITS TO GDP INCREASED BY 4.3 PP Y-O-Y, WHILE OF CREDITS – BY 6.1 PP

    National Bank of Georgia reported that as of July 1, ratio of total deposits of banking sector to Georgia’s GDP made up 51.2%.

    If compared with the same period of 2017 (46.9%), the ratio has increased by 4.3 percentage points (pp), while if compared with January 1, 2018 (52%), the ratio has reduced by 0.8 pp.


    IN Q2, NET PROFIT OF COMMERCIAL BANKS DECREASED BY 7.4% Y-O-Y

    National Bank of Georgia reported that net profit of Georgian commercial banks amounted in the 2nd quarter to 176.16 million lari. If compared with the same period of 2017, the volume has decreased by 7.4%.


    IN Q2, ROA IN GEORGIA’S BANKING SECTOR MADE UP 3%, ROE – 22.6%

    National Bank of Georgia reported that in the 2nd quarter, average return on assets (ROA) in Georgian banking sector made up 3%, while average return on equity (ROE) – 22.6%.

    In the same period of 2017, these ratios made up respective 3.4% and 24.8%, while there was no change in comparison with the 1st quarter of this year.


    SINCE START OF THE YEAR, BANKS DECREASED NUMBER OF SERVICE-CENTERS BY 53

    National Bank of Georgia reported that as of June 30, 16 commercial banks, operated in Georgia, had run 134 branches and 794 service-centers countrywide.

    Since the beginning of the year, number of branches did not change, while number of service-centers decreased by 53.

    “FITCH” IMPROVED OUTLOOK FOR “HALYK BANK GEORGIA”

    Fitch Ratings declared about revision of outlook for Halyk Bank Georgia to “Positive” from “Stable”. The bank’s rating was affirmed at “BB-”.


    “IPM”: “RADISSON BLU IVERIA” ACCOUNTS FOR 35% OF MEDIA EXPOSURES, WHILE “ROOMS TBILISI” – FOR 16%

    Institute for Polling and Marketing (IPM) declared that 108 hotels appeared in media reports for June-July of this year, against of 89 ones for the same period of 2017.

    At that, Tbilisi hotels Radisson Blu Iveria and Rooms Tbilisi accounted for almost half of total exposures – the first for 35%, while the latter – for 16%.

    IN GURIA, VIOLATIONS IN SUBSOIL DEVELOPMENT ARE REVEALED

    Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development declared that its National Agency of Subsoil revealed facts of subsoil development with violations in Guria region of the country.

    In particular, as a result of check of 5 licensed objects in Ozurgeti municipality, the Agency revealed violations in 2 of them.
