    THE MINISTER OF EDUCATION, SCIENCE, CULTURE AND SPORT RESIGNED

    As it became known at the meeting of Georgian government today, Mikhail Batiashvili has filed his resignation from the office of Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport. Batiashvili was appointed to this post in 2018.


    FREE AIR ROUTES TO BE INTRODUCED IN SOUTH CAUCASUS

    Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development declared about launch of the project on introduction of free air routes between Georgia and Armenia. Respective agreement was reached between Sakaeronavigatsia (Georgian Air Navigation) and ARMATS (Armenia Air Traffic Service).

    NBG: EFFICIENCY IN Q2 INCREASED BY 4.3% Y-O-Y

    Real added value, produced per occupied in Georgian economy (efficiency), has increased in the 2nd quarter by 4.3% year-on-year, National Bank of Georgia (NBG) said in its recent monetary policy report.

    As NBG noted, efficiency more or less equally grew in services, agriculture and industrial branches.


    SOME OBLIGATIONS, PROVIDED BY THE CODE OF WASTE MANAGEMENT, IS PLANNED TO POSTPONE

    Georgian Parliament considers amendments to the Code of Waste Management, which postpone a number of envisaged obligations.

    Certain obligations will be postponed until January 1, 2025, instead of initially envisaged January 1, 2020, as it became clear that businessmen are actually not ready to fulfill these obligations, the Parliament specified.


    PRIME MINISTER: WE WILL FINALLY RESOLVE THE ISSUE OF LAND REGISTRATION IN THE NEXT 3 YEARS

    “In conditions of further development of sporadic and systematic registration, we will finally resolve this issue (land registration) within the next 3 years”, Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia declared at the government meeting today.

    The meeting considered respective legislative amendments, which were presented by the Justice Minister Thea Tsulukiani.


    WORKS ON PROTECTION AGAINST MUD STREAMS ARE CARRIED OUT IN RUSTAVI

    Georgian Roads Department reported about works on protection against mud streams in Rustavi, which should be completed in autumn 2020.

    According to the Department, the project worth 12.47 million lari is financed from the state budget.

    Georgian Partnership Fund put on public auction Borjomi Likani hotel, in which it owns 100% since 2018. The auction will take place on December 6 at the Fund’s office.

    INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON FINANCIAL EDUCATION IS HELD IN GEORGIA

    National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported that international conference “Financial Education and Literacy: Promoting Financial Education in Southeast Europe” is held in the country.

    The event is organized by NBG in cooperation with the Dutch Finance Ministry and OECD/INFE (International Network on Financial Education of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development).
