    IRAKLI MEKVABISHVILI NOMINATED AS NEW AUDITOR GENERAL

    Speaker of the Parliament Irakli Kobakhidze presented candidacy of Irakli Mekvabishvili for post of head of State Audit Service. According to the Parliament, voting for approval of the new auditor general is planned at the plenary session on September 20.

    FDI IN Q2 DECREASED BY 14.3% Y-O-Y

    Sakstat released estimation, according to which volume of foreign direct investments (FDI) in Georgia amounted in the 2nd quarter to $346.6 million. If compared with the same period of 2016, the volume has decreased by 14.3%.


    IN TERMS OF FDI, TRANSPORT AND COMMUNICATIONS STILL LED IN Q2

    Sakstat released estimation for the 2nd quarter, according to which biggest foreign direct investments (FDI) were made in transport and communications (similarly to the 1st quarter). FDI in these spheres amounted to $130.4 million, making up 37.6% of total volume.


    IN Q2, AZERBAIJAN ACCOUNTED FOR 36.6% OF TOTAL FDI IN GEORGIA

    Sakstat released estimation, according to which Azerbaijan had biggest share in total foreign direct investments (FDI), made in Georgia in the 2nd quarter. Namely, investments from this country amounted to $126.9 million (i.e. 36.6% of total volume).


    GEORGIAN PARTY CONSIDERED ISSUES OF PARTNERSHIP WITH OECD

    Georgian Finance Ministry reported that the Minister Dimitri Kumsishvili has met today with William Tompson, head on Eurasia division of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).

    At the meeting, the parties considered a wide array of partnership activities and priorities of future cooperation, the Ministry said.


    GEORGIAN DELEGATION TAKES PART IN INTERNATIONAL TRANSPORT CONFERENCE IN ODESSA

    Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported that Georgian delegation takes part in the 2nd international transport conference in Odessa (Ukraine). The conference aims creation of competitive advantages of transport links in direction of Europe and Asia, the Ministry said.

    HUNGARIAN “WIZZAIR” PLANS FLIGHTS FROM GEORGIA TO WROCLAW FROM NEXT YEAR

    Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported that Hungarian lowcoster WizzAir will launch flights from Kutaisi to Wroclaw (Poland) on March 31, 2018. The flights will be conducted 2 times a week (on Tuesdays and Saturdays).


    “TBC BANK” SUBMITTED CLAIM AGAINST “CAUCASUS ONLINE”

    National Communication Commission declared about acceptance of claim, being submitted by TBC Bank against operator Caucasus Online.

    The bank challenges handing over of Internet domains mytbc.ge, mytbcbank.ge, itbc.ge, itbcbank.ge by Caucasus Online to private individual, the Commission said.


    “GEOCELL” GOT PERMISSION TO USE 50,765 SUBSCRIBER NUMBERS

    National Communication Commission reported that mobile operator Geocell got permission to use numeration resource with index 555. The matter concerns 50,765 subscriber numbers in total.


    “AQUA GEO” EXPANDS PRODUCTION WITHIN “PRODUCE IN GEORGIA” PROGRAM

    Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development declared that LLC Aqua Geo (drinking water bottling) will expand production within “Produce in Georgia” state program.

    Within the program, the company is beneficiary of component of financial support that provides state co-financing of interest on the credit within the first 2 years.
