    FOREIGN MINISTER: AGREEMENT REACHED ON CREATION OF FREE TRADE ZONE WITHIN GUAM

    Georgia’s Foreign Minister Mikhail Janelidze said that meeting of GUAM (alliance of Georgia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Moldova), which took place in Tbilisi, reached the agreement on creation of free trade zone within the organization.

    “It will be important not only for trade and economic relations, but will be important also for further strengthening and activization of a transport corridor”, Janelidze declared to journalists.

    THE GOVERNMENT: IMF RAISES GEORGIA’S ECONOMIC GROWTH FORECAST FOR 2017 TO 4.3%

    IMF raises Georgia’s economic growth forecast for 2017 up to 4.3%, Georgian government reported. According to administration of the government, head of IMF mission Mercedes Vera Martin declared that at today’s meeting with Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili.


    FINANCE MINISTRY: IMF POSITIVELY ESTIMATED THE 1ST REVIEW OF PROGRAMS, BEING IMPLEMENTED IN GEORGIA WITHIN EXTENDED FUND FACILITY

    Two-week working visit of IMF mission to Georgia came to an end, Georgia Finance Ministry reported.

    According to the Ministry, the mission positively estimated the 1st review of the Fund’s ongoing program within Extended Fund Facility.


    OPPOSITIONAL MP: THERE IS A TRADITIONAL GAP IN THE BUDGET EXPENDITURE

    MP from oppositional National Movement Roman Gotsiridze indicates that there is a traditional gap in the budget expenditure. Account balance of the budget amounts to 1.18 billion lari that by 478 million lari exceeds sum in the beginning of the year, he specifies and explains: these are unspent money.


    “TI GEORGIA”: SEVERAL PROBLEMATIC ISSUES REVEALED IN THE STATE PROCUREMENTS, CONDUCTED BY TBILISI CITY HALL IN 2014-2017

    TI Georgia, Georgian branch of Transparency International, has studied practice of the state procurements, conducted within system of Tbilisi City Hall during the period from August 2014 to August 2017.

    The research revealed several problematic issues, including low competition on tenders, signing of contracts in simplified way with inexperienced and newly-founded companies, as well as concrete procurements, which are connected with relatively high risks of corruption, the organization declared.


    AGRICULTURE MINISTER: GEORGIAN POPULATION’S DEMAND FOR POTATOES IS COMPLETELY SATISFIED WITH GEORGIAN PRODUCTION

    Agriculture Minister Levan Davitashvili declared that in respect of potatoes, “this year, we reached production mark of about 250,000 t”. “Demand of Georgian population is completely satisfied by Georgian production”, he stated.

    Cartu bank reported net profit of 10.55 million lari as of June 30. If compared with the same period of 2016, the volume has decreased by 36.9%.


    AS OF JUNE 30, PROFIT OF “FINCA BANK” DECREASED BY 75.2% Y-O-Y

    FINCA Bank reported net profit of 107,296 lari as of June 30. If compared with the same period of 2016, the volume has decreased by 75.2%.


    AS OF JUNE 30, “SILK ROAD BANK” FIXED PROFIT OF 266,433 LARI

    Silk Road Bank reported net profit of 266,433 lari as of June 30. For the same date of 2016, the bank had loss of 1.53 million lari.

    POLL: ABOUT 58% OF GEORGIANS ARE AWARE ABOUT THE EU’S FINANCIAL SUPPORT TO GEORGIA

    Poll, conducted within the project of the European Neighborhood Policy, show that about 58% Georgians are aware about financial support of the EU to Georgia. From here, 74% (against of 59% in 2016) believe that this support is effective.
