    SHEVARDNADZE CALLS TO REFRAIN FROM MAKING INCORRECT COMMENTS ABOUT THE EVENTS IN ARMENIA

    Commenting the resignation of President of Armenia, in his today’s interview to National Radio President of Georgia Eduard Shevardnadze welcomed the peaceful settlement of the problem and announced, that whoever is elected on the post of President of Armenia, it will not influence the traditional relations between Georgians and Armenians. President called to refrain from making unskilled and incorrect comments about the events in Armenia.


    PARLIAMENT OF GEORGIA APPROVES THE NOMINEE OF GEORGIAN AMBASSADOR TO ARMENIA

    Parliament of Georgia gave its consent on appointing Nikoloz Nikolozishvili on the post of the ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of Georgia to Armenia. Mr. Nikolozishvili was born in 1965, graduated from the Tbilisi State University, philological faculty, worked at the university, was editor-in-chief of a newspaper Iveria-Express, since 1995 he is chairman of state department on the youth of Georgia.


    GEORGIAN MPS DEMAND TO RETURN FORMER HEAD OF THE RED CROSS MISSION TO THE COUNTRY

    Last July 13 65 years old Alexander Marinov met with an accident, as a result of which 2 persons died. At present Mr. Marinov is in Switzerland, though according to the agreement of FM of Georgia and the Red Cross he would have stayed in Georgia till the settlement of the question of withdrawal of his diplomatic immunity.


    THE POSITIONS OF ALL PARTIES SHOULD BE CONSIDERED DURING THE SETTLEMENT OF THE CONFLICT

    In his today’s radiointerview President of Georgia stated his attitude towards this question once again. According to him, the question of presence of peacekeepers in Abkhazia should be solved in the middle of March.

    Mr. Avtandil Margiani considers that peacekeepers are brilliantly performing their functions, thus maintaining the stability in the region. The only task of the politicians is to attach police functions to them.

    Badri Bitsadze, the chief military procurator of the country, has announced about it at the session of the board of Defense Ministry of Georgia. He explains the necessity of establishing the procurator’s supervision by the facts of desertion there, which became too often recently.


    A BOARDING-SCHOOL WILL BE OPENED AT FRONTIER DEPARTMENT OF GEORGIA FOR PREPARATION OF FRONTIER TROOPS OFFICERS

    Valeri Chkheidze, chairman of the department for state frontier guard, has announced to the journalists about it. Alongside with the comprehensive subjects the pupils will study the history of armed forces of Georgia, management of motor and heavy techniques, science of hand-to-hand fighting, fencing, as well as ball dances.


    NETHERLANDS IS GOING TO REALIZE SEVERAL PROGRAMS ON HUMANITARIAN AID FOR DEVELOPMENT

    The minister for development and cooperation of Netherlands Ian Pronck announced to the journalists about it on the day of his departure. The programs will concern political and legal spheres, as well as protection of environment, he said.

    1,850 TONS OF MANDARINS WERE EXPORTED FROM ABKHAZIA TO RUSSIA FROM THE BEGINNING OF THE HARVEST

    The separatist mass media informs about it. According to their data, a part of the freight was exported through the frontier post on the Psou River by the enterprises cooperating with the Congress of Russian Communities in Abkhazia.

    As Mr. Shevardnadze marked in his today’s radiointerview, a great work was done in its time on adjusting communication with these regions (Tusheti, Khevsureti), which are torn off from the center. According to him, at present the government is able to renew the aid to the population of the alpine regions.

    THE LICENSES ON REALIZING BANKING OPERATIONS ARE WITHDRAWN FROM COMMERCIAL BANKS AISI AND DARIALI

    Thus, number of commercial banks of Georgia, which made 53 at the beginning of this year, decreased by 2. According to the information from NB, the both banks were deprived of licenses for violation of the banking legislation and failure to comply the normatives, fixed by NB.

    President of Georgia Eduard Shevardnadze announced about it in his today’s interview to National Radio. He once again marked the necessity of struggle with corruption in the country.
