    GEORGIA HAS FILLED OUT THE 2ND PART OF THE EU QUESTIONNAIRE TOO

    Today, Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili handed over the filled out 2nd part of the questionnaire of the European Commission to the head of the EU representation in Georgia Carl Hartzell. “We have completed the filling, a total of 7 volumes”, he said.


    LEGISLATIVE AMENDMENTS ENVISAGE UPDATING NATIONAL REPORT ON MONEY LAUNDERING RISKS ASSESSMENT AND ACTION PLAN ONCE IN AT LEAST 3 YEARS

    The Georgian Parliament reported that today the Committee on Legal Issues held consideration of amendments to the law “On Assistance to Suppression of Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing” in first hearing. The draft, initiated by the Georgian government, is being considered in an accelerated mode.

    ECONOMY MINISTER AND EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF DFC DISCUSSED AREAS OF COOPERATION BETWEEN GEORGIA AND THE US

    During his visit to the US, Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Levan Davitashvili met with Scott Nathan, executive director of the US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC).

    As the Georgian Economy Ministry reported, the parties discussed priority areas of economic cooperation between the two countries.


    IN 2021, NBG SUPPLIED $354.9M TO LOCAL CURRENCY MARKET

    In 2021, National Bank of Georgia (NBG) supplied $354.9 million (net volume) to the local currency market. Annual report of NBG specifies that $332.9 million out of total sum were supplied through currency auctions.


    GOVERNMENT: IT IS PLANNED TO INVEST UP TO $200M IN DEVELOPMENT OF RENEWABLE ENERGY

    The Georgian government reported that several projects, aimed at promotion of renewable energy development, were approved at the meeting today.

    Total installed capacity of energy facilities, envisaged by these projects, makes up 150 MW, while total investment – $200 million, the government specified.


    DEPUTY ECONOMY MINISTER: “TRADE HELPDESK” AIMS UTILIZATION OF IDLE EXPORT POTENTIAL OF 380M EUR

    Gennady Arveladze, Georgia’s Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, declared that the Eastern Partnership online platform “Trade Helpdesk” aims to utilize the unused Georgia’s potential of export to the Eastern Partnership region and the EU of over 380 million EUR. The platform was developed as part of a regional project, funded by the EU.


    IN 2021, NUMBER OF EXCISE STAMPS ISSUED FOR IMPORT OF TOBACCO INCREASED BY 4.9%

    Georgian Revenue Service reported that 256 million excise stamps were issued for import of tobacco in 2021. If compared with 2020, the number has increased by 4.9%.


    ANOTHER PROTECTED TERRITORY TO BE CREATED IN GEORGIA

    The Georgian government decided today to create a nature reserve “Kvereti” on a territory of 14.797 ha in Sachkhere municipality (Imereti region).

    As the government noted, 31 new protected territories were created and 3 were expanded in 2012-2021.
