    GEORGIAN PREMIER: WE NEED ACCELERATION OF ECONOMIC RELATIONS WITH THE US

    “We have demonstration cooperation in spheres of policy and security” with the US, “however development of economic relations is also required”, Georgia’s Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze declared. “Our economic cooperation with America, unfortunately, is not up to the mark”, he pointed.

    NBG HOSTS WORKING MEETING ON ISSUES OF SETTLEMENT AND CUSTODIAN RELATIONS

    National Bank of Georgia (NBG), with assistance of Treasury of the World Bank, hosts the workshop on settlement and custody relations. In the workshop, which will last for a week, over 40 representatives from more than 30 countries take part.


    METROLOGY INSTITUTE: GEORGIA PLANS TO GAIN INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION IN HUMIDITY MEASURING

    Metrology Institute declared that Georgia plans to gain international recognition in measuring of humidity. Georgia already gained international recognition in respect of temperature measuring, the Institute noted.


    PARTICIPATION IN THE 3RD INVESTMENT AND ENERGY FORUM OF CAREC IN BATUMI IS TAKEN BY 250 REPRESENTATIVES OF 11 COUNTRIES

    Today, the 3rd investment and energy forum of Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) opened in Batumi. As Ajara government reported, 250 representatives of 11 countries take part in a 2-day event.


    INTERDEPARTMENTAL COMMISSION DISCUSSED ISSUES OF ROAD SAFETY

    Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported that interdepartmental commission on road safety discussed situation in the country in this sphere. The commission held the meeting on September 10.


    CONSTRUCTION OF TUNNEL ON MTSKHETA-STEPANTSMINDA-LARS ROAD IS FINISHED

    On Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Lars road of international importance, the tunnel, having length of 1.7 km, was opened on September 9. Construction works, which started in May 2017, were completed in this August.


    IN 6 MONTHS, RATE OF IMPLEMENTATION OF MEASURES ON ASSISTANCE TO AGRICULTURAL COOPERATIVES MADE UP ONLY 28%

    Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Giorgi Khanishvili said that there is “relatively difficult situation” in respect of measures on assistance to agricultural cooperatives. He specified that within 6 months, rate of their implementation makes up only 28%.


    NATIONAL WINE AGENCY: 42,000 T OF GRAPES ARE PROCESSED IN KAKHETI, INCOME OF WINEGROWERS EXCEEDED 70M LARI

    Georgian National Wine Agency reported that as of September 11, about 42,000 t of grapes are processed in Kakheti region (including up to 27,000 t of Saperavi (red variety) and 9,000 t of Rkatsiteli (white variety)), against of 22,500 t in the same period of 2017.

    According to the Agency, grapes was sold since start of rtveli (vintage) by 4,200 winegrowers, whose income exceeded 70 million lari.

    4 COMPANIES BECAME INTERESTED IN TUNNEL CONSTRUCTION ON KVESHETI-KOBI ROAD

    Georgian Roads Department reported about opening of offers, submitted by applicants to the tender on construction 9-km tunnel on Kvesheti-Kobi road (will pass under the Cross Pass). Applications were submitted by 4 companies, the Department said, not specifying them.


    NEW NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTORS ARE APPOINTED IN “TBC BANK GROUP”

    TBC Bank Group declared about appointment of new independent non-executive directors, Maria Luisa Cicognani and Tsira Kemularia. They were also appointed as supervisory board members in the group’s main subsidiary, TBC Bank.
