THE GOVERNMENT PRESENTED PLAN OF MEASURES ON STIMULATION OF ECONOMY
Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia, together with members of economic team of the country’s government, presented today the plan of measures on stimulation of economy for mitigation of negative impact of coronavirus spread.
As the Premier noted, the first blow because of coronavirus pandemic is struck to tourism sector, which was main “driver” of the country’s economic growth in recent years.
PRIME MINISTER: WE WILL CONTINUE CONVERSATION ON BANKING REGULATIONS IN ORDER TO USE EVEN MORE ECONOMY INCENTIVE TOOLS
“We will continue, together with the National Bank, a conversation on banking regulations in order to use, in case of need, even more economy incentive tools”, Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia declared today.
At that, “We actively work with our international partners, as we understand well that we have to use as much as possible readiness of support, expressed by international financial institutions”, the Premier indicated.
NBG SOLD $20 MILLION
National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported about sell of $20 million at the currency auction today. The average exchange rate made up 2.9936 GEL/USD.
NBG CARRIES OUT QUARANTINE MEASURES CONCERNING LARI BANKNOTES AND COINS
National Bank of Georgia (NBG) said that because of coronavirus pandemic, quarantine measures are carried out concerning lari banknotes and coins.
In particular, lari banknotes, which arrived from circulation, will be placed in the cash center, being stored in specially allocated place during 14 days, after which they will be returned in circulation, NBG specified.
PROJECT OF INSTALLATION OF “SMART TRAFFIC LIGHTS” IN TBILISI TO START THIS YEAR
Tbilisi City Hall reported that project of installation of “smart traffic lights” in Tbilisi will start in the current year. The project will be implemented according to specifications, provided by the German government, the City Hall noted.
JAPANESE EMBASSY TO PROVIDE GRANT FOR IMPROVEMENT OF SANITARY CONDITIONS IN OZURGETI
Georgian Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure reported that Ozurgeti municipality (Guria region) will receive grant of up to $60,000 from Japanese embassy. The funds are intended for improvement of sanitary conditions in the municipality.
