PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY OF THE GOVERNMENT: COMMUNICATION COMMISSION WILL NOT HAVE THE RIGHT OF ALIENATION OF SHARES OF COMPANIES
Draft amendments to the law “On Electronic Communications”, being considered currently in Georgian Parliament, applied to Georgian National Communication Commission the right of alienation of shares in the company, in case the latter does not fulfill decisions of the Commission. However, as the parliamentary secretary of the government Beka Dochviri declared to journalists, after conducted consultations, the mentioned record was removed from the draft and, respectively, interim manager, appointed by the Commission in the company, “will have no right” to alienate its shares.

IN JANUARY-JUNE, GEORGIA’S IMPORT OF PETROL DECREASED BY 6% Y-O-Y, OF DIESEL – INCREASED BY 8.2%
Georgian Oil-Product Importers Union reported that Georgia’s import of gasoline and diesel fuel totaled in January-June to 497,900 t. If compared with the same period of 2019, the volume has increased by 0.7%.
IN Q1, GEORGIA’S ELECTRICITY GENERATION DECREASED BY 6% Y-O-Y, ELECTRICITY IMPORT – INCREASED BY 50.4%
Sakstat reported that Georgia’s electricity generation totaled in the 1st quarter to 2,748 GWh. If compared with the same period of 2019, the volume has decreased by 6%.
IN Q1, GEORGIA’S GAS PRODUCTION DECREASED BY 12.5% Y-O-Y
Sakstat reported that 2.1 million cubic m of natural gas were produced in Georgia in the 1st quarter. If compared with the same period of 2019, the volume has decreased by 12.5%.
IN Q1, GEORGIA’S COAL PRODUCTION INCREASED 18 TIMES Y-O-Y, WHILE IMPORT DECREASED BY 27.6%
Sakstat reported that Georgia’s coal production amounted in the 1st quarter to 16,100 t. If compared with the same period of 2019, the volume has increased 18 times.
AS OF 2019, 67.7% OF GEORGIAN POPULATION WAS CONNECTED TO WATER SUPPLY SYSTEM
Sakstat reported that as of December 31, 2019, 2.52 million persons (67.7% of Georgia’s total population) were connected to system of water supply. If compared with 2018, the number has increased by 2.8%.
SINCE SEPTEMBER, ZONAL-AND-HOURLY PARKING WILL BE ENACTED ON PEKING AVENUE OF TBILISI
Tbilisi City Hall reported that system of zonal-and-hourly parking will be enacted since September 10 on Peking Avenue. In this zone, 1 hour of parking will cost 1 lari.

EBRD TO ALLOCATE UP TO $100M TO “SAKARTVELOS BANKI”
EBRD reported that credit of up to $100 million will be allocated to Sakartvelos Banki (Bank of Georgia). The funds are provided in response to economic influence of COVID-19 pandemic, for financing of local private business.
COPPER AND ALUMINUM WIRES ENTERPRISE OPENED IN TBILISI
Today, with assistance of “Produce in Georgia” state program, copper and aluminum wires’ manufacturing enterprise was opened in Tbilisi. Turkish company Koc Kablo invested 15 million lari in the enterprise, Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported.
