    THE GOVERNMENT EXTENDS TERM OF OBLIGATIONS’ FULFILLMENT BY “ANAKLIA DEVELOPMENT CONSORTIUM” UNTIL END OF THE YEAR

    Georgian Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure reported that the government gives an opportunity to Anaklia Development Consortium to attract equity capital and to reach written agreement with international banks regarding completion of the project of construction of deep-water port Anaklia before expiration of deadline for fulfillment of financial obligations, i.e. until end of 2019.

    As the Ministry noted, deadline for fulfillment by the Consortium of intermediate obligations, envisaged by next amendment to investment agreement, “has expired with no result” on October 15.


    DIRECTOR GENERAL OF “ANAKLIA DEVELOPMENT CONSORTIUM”: LAST DECISION OF THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD BE WELCOMED, BUT IN RECENT MONTHS, THE GOVERNMENT PRACTICALLY SABOTAGED THE PROJECT OF ANAKLIA PORT

    Levan Akhvlediani, director general of the Anaklia Development Consortium, welcomed decision of Georgian government to extend term for fulfillment of obligations by the Consortium until end of 2019.

    However, Akhvlediani stressed that during several recent months, the government “practically sabotaged” the project of construction of deep-water port Anaklia, being implemented by the Consortium.


    CHAIRMAN OF “NATIONAL MOVEMENT” FRACTION: NBG COUNCIL IS NOT FILLED

    Roman Gotsiridze, chairman of fraction of oppositional National Movement in Georgian Parliament, indicated that council of the National Bank of Georgia (NBG) is not filled.

    Georgian president nominated of 2 members of the council in May, however their approval “got stuck” in the Parliament for almost half a year, Gotsiridze declared at plenary session of the Parliament on October 15.

    AS OF SEPTEMBER 30, THE GOVERNMENT-EMITTED SECURITIES INCREASED BY 24% Y-O-Y

    National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported that as of September 30, volume of securities, issued by Georgian government in national currency, amounted to 3.69 billion lari. If compared with the same period of 2018, the volume has increased by 24%, while if compared with the previous quarter (the 2nd quarter) – by 4%.


    GEORGIAN FINANCE MINISTER PARTICIPATES IN ANNUAL MEETING OF THE IMF AND WB

    Georgian Finance Ministry reported that the Minister Ivane Machavariani pays visit to the US, where he participates in annual meeting of the IMF and the World Bank (WB).

    The Ministry noted that within the visit, meetings with representatives of the international financial institutions and donor organizations are planned.


    STATE PROGRAM ON SUPPORT TO MILK-PRODUCING COOPERATIVES IS AMENDED

    Georgian Agency on Rural and Agricultural Development reported that the state program on support to milk-producing cooperatives is amended.

    The amendments envisage the state co-financing of 90% (no more than 150,000 lari) for purchase of equipment by the cooperatives.


    ROADS DEPARTMENT: MAIN PART OF THE 2ND SECTION OF SAMTREDIA-GRIGOLETI ROAD WILL BE OPENED IN 2020

    Within construction of the 2nd section of 18.5 km of Samtredia-Grigoleti road, its Japana-Lanchkhuti part (Guria region), having length of 14 km, will be opened in 2020, Georgian Roads Department declared.

    The project envisages construction on the mentioned 2nd section of 4-lane asphalt concrete road, 16 bridges, 3 road interchanges.

    AS OF 9 MONTHS OF THE YEAR, “WIZZ AIR” STILL LEADS ON GEORGIAN AVIATION MARKET

    Georgian Civil Aviation Agency reported that in terms of number of passengers, transported in 9 months of this year, Hungarian low-coster Wizz Air still leads on Georgia’s aviation market. This airline has transported 592,988 passengers, accounting for 15% of total number.
