    PRIME MINISTER: IN CONNECTION WITH PERSONNEL CHANGES IN THE GOVERNMENT, IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO RUN BEFORE THE HOUNDS

    In connection with personnel changes in the government, it is not necessary to run before the hounds, Georgia’s Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze declared to journalists at the news briefing before the government meeting today.

    The Premier noted that “the whole team agrees with the principle that we need a new blood”.


    GEORGIAN ECONOMY MINISTER: AMERICAN BUSINESS CONSIDERS US AS THE STRATEGIC CENTER AND THE HUB

    Business of the US considers us (i.e. Georgia) as the strategic center and the hub, Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Natia Turnava declared today, while commenting to journalists on results of Georgian governmental delegation’s visit to the US.

    The Minister pointed that memorandum of understanding concerning expansion of the US-Georgia bilateral trade relations, signed within the visit, “emphasizes desire and decision of the US to regard Georgia as the regional center and a buttress for the American business, from where they will interact with the whole region”.

    SHOWING OF PORTFOLIO INVESTMENTS IN 2018 WAS ALSO NEGATIVE

    National Bank of Georgia reported that showing of portfolio investments in Georgia in 2018 was also negative, amounting to $7 million in volume. In relation to GDP, this indicator makes up almost 0%.


    PRIME MINISTER: PENSION FUND IS OBLIGATORY PREREQUISITE FOR HAVING WORTHY PENSION IN GEORGIA

    Pension Fund is an obligatory prerequisite in order that pension was worthy in Georgia, Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze declared at the news briefing before the government meeting today.

    The Premier pointed that “we listen in daily mode very cheap populism” in connection with the Pension Fund, however “the pension funds have no alternative”.


    WITH ASSISTANCE OF KFW, CONSTRUCTION AND REHABILITATIONS OF POWER LINES AND SUBSTATIONS TO BE CARRIED OUT IN GEORGIA

    With assistance of German government, construction and rehabilitation of the power line and substations will be carried out in Georgia within “Open Program Energy Sector”, Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported. The projects will enter an active phase in 2020, while works are planned to complete in 2022, the Ministry noted.


    INTERNATIONAL TENDER FOR CONSTRUCTION OF SHORAPANI-ARGVETA SECTION OF HIGHWAY’S RIKOTI PART IS ANNOUNCED AFRESH

    Georgian Roads Department declared about international tender, announced on construction of the 4th section (Shorapani-Argveta) of the highway’s part through Rikoti Pass. Applications are accepted until August 1.


    WB ALLOCATES 90M EUR FOR GEORGIA’S EDUCATION SYSTEM

    The World Bank (WB) allocates 90 million EUR for Georgian education system, Georgia’s Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze reported at the news briefing before the government meeting today. The financial agreement will be signed on June 18.


    ILO-ASSISTED TRAININGS TO BE HELD FOR MICRO AND SMALL BUSINESSMEN

    Georgian Economy and Sustainable Development Ministry’s Produce in Georgia Agency reported about launch of educational project “Start and Develop Your Business”, assisted by International Labor Organization (ILO).

    The project envisages holding of trainings for micro and small businessmen in all regions of the country.


    PRIME MINISTER: GROUPS OF REGULATING STATE INSTITUTES WILL CONDUCT MONITORING OF CONSTRUCTION COMPANIES

    Georgia’s Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze declared that in order of prevention of violation of labor norms and safety measures, monitoring and quick response, the joint groups will be created, staffed by the state regulating institutes. These groups will carry out the integrated monitoring of construction companies, he said.

    COMMUNICATION COMMISSION: SERVICE NOT TO BE RESTRICTED TO SUBSCRIBERS OF “MAGTIFIX”

    CDMA license of operator MagtiCom is extended for 10 years, Georgian National Communication Commission declared.

    As a result, communication service will not be restricted after June 17 to more than 100,000 subscribers of MagtiFix (fixed wireless phone of the company), the Commission pointed.
