    SHOTADZE APPOINTED THE PROSECUTOR GENERAL AGAIN

    Today, Georgian Parliament with 82 votes pro and no contra, supported appointment of Irakli Shotadze to the Prosecutor General’s post for next 6 years. The opposition, which categorically opposed Shotadze’s candidacy, did not take part in the vote.


    GEORGIA, UKRAINE AND MOLDOVA COUNT ON INCREASE OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE WITHIN THEIR AGREEMENTS ON ASSOCIATION

    Foreign ministers of Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova signed the joint statement, which requests increase of the EU assistance within association agreements, Georgian Foreign Ministry reported. The joint statement was signed on February 15, within the Munich security conference.


    ECONOMY MINISTER: WE WILL PROMOTE HOLDING JOINT BUSINESS FORUMS WITH MALAYSIA

    Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Natia Turnava held today a meeting with parliamentary delegation of Malaysia in Tbilisi.

    As the Minister declared, Georgian side will promote organization of joint business forums with Malaysia and mutual visits of business delegations.

    IN 2019, GEORGIA’S DOMESTIC STATE DEBT INCREASED BY 28.2%

    Georgian Finance Ministry reported that domestic state debt of the country amounted as of December 31, 2019 to 4.17 billion lari (without so-called “historical debt”). If compared with the same date of 2018, the volume has increased by 28.2%.


    IN 2019, GEORGIA’S FOREIGN STATE DEBT INCREASED BY 5.6%

    Georgian Finance Ministry reported that foreign state debt of the country amounted as of December 31, 2019 to $5.74 billion. If compared with the same date of 2018, the volume has increased by 5.6%.


    CAUCASUS NATURE FUND TO FINANCE RANGERS’ INSURANCE

    Georgian Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture reported that insurance of rangers, working in territorial administrations of the country’s Agency of Protected Areas, will be financed by the Caucasus Nature Fund.

    As the Ministry specified, allocation of grant of 40,000 EUR is envisaged for that end in 2020.


    IN TERMS OF PASSENGER TRAFFIC GROWTH, KUTAISI AIRPORT IS THE 2ND AMONG SMALL AIRPORTS OF EUROPE

    Airports Council International Europe (ACI Europe) places Georgia’s Kutaisi airport on the 2nd place in Europe in terms of passenger traffic growth. The matter concerns the airports with passenger traffic less than 5 million people.


    NBG ELABORATED PRINCIPLES OF ESG REPORTING AND DEVELOPED CORRESPONDING TEMPLATES

    National Bank of Georgia (NBG) declared about elaboration of principles of environmental, social and governance (ESG) reporting and publication and development of corresponding templates.

    Work on the mentioned documents was carried out in cooperation with the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), NBG noted.

    NBG TO ISSUE SERIES OF COLLECTABLE COINS “GEORGIAN KINGS”

    National Bank of Georgia (NBG) announced issue of series of collectable coins “Georgian Kings”. First coin, dedicated to Erekle II, will be issued this year, NBG said.
