    DURING HIS VISIT TO BRUSSELS, GEORGIAN PREMIER MET WITH THE EUROPEAN COUNCIL PRESIDENT AND NATO SECRETARY GENERAL

    Within his 2-day visit to Brussels (May 17-18), Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili met with the President of the European Council Charles Michel on May 17, the Georgian government reported.

    As the government said, the core subject of consideration was Georgia’s application for EU membership and assignment status of EU membership candidate to the country.

    IN 2021, UNEMPLOYMENT RATE IN GEORGIA INCREASED BY 2.1 PP

    Sakstat reported that Georgia’s unemployment rate in 2021 made up 20.6%. If compared with 2020, the rate has increased by 2.1 percentage points (pp).


    IN Q1, NUMBER OF INTERNATIONAL VISITORS TO GEORGIA INCREASED 4.8 TIMES

    Sakstat reported that in the 1st quarter, number of international visitors to Georgia totaled to 431,300. If compared with the same period of 2020, the number has increased 4.8 times.


    IN Q1, GEORGIA’S PRODUCTION OF MEAT INCREASED BY 5.7%, OF MILK – DECREASED BY 2.7%

    Sakstat released estimation, according to which Georgia’s meat production in the 1st quarter totaled to 16,700 t, increasing by 5.7% year-on-year.

    Milk production totaled to 112.2 million l, decreasing by 2.7%.


    IN Q1, MEAT PRODUCTION AT GEORGIAN SLAUGHTERHOUSES INCREASED BY 34% Y-O-Y

    Sakstat reported that in the 1st quarter, Georgian slaughterhouses produced 12.00 t of meat. If compared with the same period of last year, the volume has increased by 34%.


    IN Q1, GEORGIA’S EXPORT OF CATTLE INCREASED BY 14.3%, IMPORT – BY 50%

    Sakstat released estimation, according to which Georgia exported 18,400 heads of cattle in the 1st quarter. If compared with the same period of last year, the number has increased by 14.3%.


    IN Q1, VOLUME OF PRODUCTION, PLACED IN GEORGIAN ELEVATORS, DECREASED BY 7.6% Y-O-Y

    Sakstat reported that in the 1st quarter, Georgian elevators stored 112,500 t of production. If compared with the same period of 2020, the volume has decreased by 7.6%.


    IN Q1, VOLUME OF PRODUCTION, PLACED IN GEORGIAN COLD STORAGES, INCREASED BY 12.9% Y-O-Y

    Sakstat reported that in the 1st quarter, Georgian cold storages stored 63,100 t of production. If compared with the same period of 2020, the volume has increased by 12.9%.
