    GEORGIAN-TURKISH MIXED ECONOMIC COMMISSION HELD A MEETING IN ANKARA

    Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported that Georgian-Turkish mixed economic commission held a meeting in Turkish capital Ankara today. The Ministry stressed that the meeting was held after a 14-year pause, as the commission did not function after 2005.


    SPEAKER: THE PARLIAMENT CONTINUES ACTIVITY

    Archil Talakvadze, speaker of Georgian Parliament, declared at the bureau meeting on November 18 that the Parliament continues activity and together with the government, will be a guarantor that any important function of the state will not be stopped.

    The speaker asserted that “elections of 2020 will be held democratically, will be held in competitive and free environment, by that model and in that sequence, as it is reflected in the Constitution”.


    PRIME MINISTER: DESPITE ONGOING PROCESSES, THE GOVERNMENT WILL DO EVERYTHING THAT BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT WAS STABLE AND POSITIVE

    Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia asserted that “despite democratic political processes, which happen sometimes in the street, sometimes in the Parliament, sometimes in media and sometimes in other places, the government will make everything for business and economy”. The government “will achieve the goal that environment was steadily predictable and that is the most important, positive”, he declared.

    IN Q2, RATIO OF HOUSEHOLDS’ DEBT TO GDP INCREASED BY 2.9 PERCENTAGE POINTS Y-O-Y

    National Bank of Georgia reported that in the 2nd quarter, ratio of Georgian households’ debt to GDP of the country made up 37.2%.

    This ratio in the 2nd quarter of 2018 made up 34.3%, respectively, year-on-year growth makes up 2.9 percentage points (pp).


    AS OF SEPTEMBER, SHARE OF CREDITS, ISSUED TO THE SECTOR OF REAL ESTATE AND CONSTRUCTION, IN TOTAL CREDITS INCREASED BY 1.2 PERCENTAGE POINTS Y-O-Y

    National Bank of Georgia reported that credits, issued as of September to the sector of real estate and construction, accounted for 5% of total credits of the banking sector.

    To compare, this ratio in January made up 3.9%, in March – 4.1%, in June – 4.6%.


    AS OF SEPTEMBER 30, TOTAL DEPOSITS WITHOUT EXCHANGE RATE EFFECT INCREASED BY 8.2% Y-O-Y

    National Bank of Georgia reported that deposits, placed as of September 30 in Georgian banks, totaled to 25.6 billion lari, so the volume, not considering exchange rate effect, has increased by 8.2% year-on-year.

    Taking exchange rate effect into account, total deposits has increased by 16.8%, while real growth (i.e. excluding effect of inflation) – 10.4%.


    AS OF SEPTEMBER, ROA OF DEPOSIT CORPORATIONS MADE UP 2.3%, ROE – 18.5%

    National Bank of Georgia reported that average return on assets (ROA) of Georgian deposit corporations as of September made up 2.3%, while average return on equity (ROE) – 18.5%. In the same period of 2018, average ROA made up 2.4%, while ROE – 18.4%.


    SINCE THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR, 401 MINING LICENSES WERE ISSUED

    Georgian National Subsoil Agency reported that as of November 13, 401 mining licenses were issued.

    According to the Agency, volume of attracted investments totaled to 69.45 million lari.

    IN SOLIDARITY WITH THE PROTEST, STORES OF “FRESCO” RETAIL CHAIN WERE CLOSED FOR ONE DAY

    “We consider that what is going on today in our country, is seizure of constitutional right from us and our citizens”, head of Fresco chain of retail stores Vasil Sopromadze declared.

    As Sopromadze pointed, “We see the only possibility of expression of our protest in temporary suspension of the chain – by one day”.


    IN Q3, SHARE OF “IMEDI” IN BROADCASTERS’ TOTAL ADVERTISING INCOME MADE UP 40.1%, WHILE OF “RUSTAVI-2” – 28.8%

    Georgian National Communication Commission reported that advertising income of Georgian broadcasters totaled in the 3rd quarter to 12.78 million lari. As the Commission noted, the income includes revenues from advertising, sponsorship, placement of content and statements and teleshopping.
