    “DIAGONAL CUMULATION” AGREEMENT BETWEEN GEORGIA, THE EU AND TURKEY ENTERED IN FORCE

    The agreement on so-called “diagonal cumulation” between Georgia, the EU and Turkey has entered in force, reported Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development. As the Ministry noted, the agreement became effective after the relevant document was published by the EU in the official journal on October 15.


    IDFI: IN THE GLOBAL RULE OF LAW INDEX OF 2021, GEORGIA'S SCORE IMPROVED BY 0.01 POINTS

    Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI) reported that in the global Rule of Law Index of 2021, published by the World Justice Project (WJP), Georgia’s overall score makes up 0.61 (maximum score - 1). Since last year, Georgia's indicator has improved by 0.01 points, placing Georgia the 49th among 139 countries, the organization said.

    IN 9 MONTHS, LOCAL EXPORT INCREASED BY 25.9% Y-O-Y

    Sakstat reported that in Georgia’s total export for January-September ($2.98 billion), export without re-export (i.e. local exports) accounted for 72.7%, or $2.17 billion. If compared with the same period of 2020, the volume of local export has increased by 25.9%.


    “WASTE DETECTOR”: IN 2017-2020, MAINTENANCE OF “BLACK SEA ARENA” AND SALARIES OF ITS EMPLOYEES COST THE STATE UP TO 29M LARI

    Waste Detector, media project of non-governmental organization Governance Monitoring Center (GMC), reported that maintenance of the Black Sea Arena and salaries of its employees in 2017-2020 cost the state up to 29 million lari.

    The matter concerns a concert hall on Georgia’s Black Sea coast, which was donated to the state by Bidzina Ivanishvili (billionaire founder of ruling Georgian Dream, ex-premier).


    PROGRAM OF MEDICINES’ FUNDING FOR SOCIALLY UNPROTECTED PENSIONERS LAUNCHED IN TBILISI

    Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze declared that a program of medicines’ financing will be implemented for 40,000 socially unprotected pensioners, living in Tbilisi. Within the program, pensioners will be able to use a 500-lari voucher.


    MAYOR PROMISED TO PROVIDE HOUSING TO HOMELESS FAMILIES IN TBILISI FROM 2022

    Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze declared that starting from 2022, living spaces will be provided to those families, who have status of homeless. “There are about 400 families in our city, who have the status of homeless”, he noted.

    THROUGH ADB FINANCING, 2 RESIDENTIAL COMPLEXES TO BE BUILT IN TBILISI FOR CUSTOMERS WITH LOW AND MEDIUM INCOMES

    On October 19, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and LLC Optima signed an agreement on allocation of loan of $10 million for construction of 2 residential complexes in Tbilisi.

    ADB reported that the loan will finance construction of complexes with total of 3,700 energy-efficient apartments, designed for low- and middle-income families.


    COMMUNICATION COMMISSION FOR THE SECOND TIME CHARGED “CAUCASUS ONLINE” TO RETURN STAKES TO THEIR ORIGINAL STATE

    Georgian National Communication Commission once again recognized Caucasus Online as an offender and for the second time charged the telecom operator to return the stakes in the company to their original state.

    The Commission set the deadline for submitting documents, confirming the return of stakes to their original condition, at December 31.
