“For more than 2 years now, the government no longer considers itself accountable to the public and makes decisions behind closed doors”, indicated TI Georgia, Georgian branch of Transparency International.
In particular, the organization reported that at 47 meetings in 2022, the Georgian government considered 372 draft decrees, none of which were made public.
GEORGIA HAS NEW MINISTER OF EDUCATION AND SCIENCE
Giorgi Amilakhvari has been appointed the new Minister of Education and Science of Georgia.
Amilakhvari, born in 1984, graduated from Tbilisi State University (Faculty of Law), in 2017 he received the degree of Doctor of Laws.

Georgian Revenue Service reported that heads of customs administrations of Georgia, Azerbaijan, Turkey and Central Asian countries discussed issues of speeding up the procedures of crossing borders for transit cargo.
As the Service said, the parties signed a protocol that regulates principles of introduction of simplified transit in the middle transport corridor in line with the “single window” principle.
GEORGIAN GOVERNMENT APPROVED UPDATED PERMISSION CONDITIONS FOR INPATIENT MEDICAL INSTITUTIONS
At the meeting today, the Georgian government has approved updated permission conditions for inpatient medical institutions. The relevant amendments were made to the government’s decree “On Adoption of Rules for Licensing of Healthcare Facilities and Award of Permits to In-Patient Care Institutions” dated 2010.
GEORGIAN HEALTHCARE MINISTER: LAB FOR MEDICINES QUALITY CONTROL IS READY
Zurab Azarashvili, Georgian Minister of IDPs from Occupied Territories, Labor, Healthcare and Social Protection, declared that the laboratory for control of medicines’ quality is already ready.
After the government meeting today, the Minister told journalists that at this stage, technical and organizational issues are being agreed to determine the opening date of the laboratory.
NBG VICE PRESIDENT: MORTGAGE-SECURED BONDS WILL IMPROVE ACCESSIBILITY OF LONG-TERM FINANCING IN LARI
Nikoloz Gagua, vice president of National Bank of Georgia (NBG), said that mortgage-secured bonds will improve accessibility of long-term financing in lari.
This instrument will also facilitate growth in the medium term of possibility of fixed pricing for mortgage loans and will serve as a risk management tool, Gagua said.
