    GEORGIAN PREMIER: BY 2030, ALL GEORGIAN SCHOOLS WILL BE FULLY MODERNIZED

    Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili declared that by 2026, construction/renovation of 800 secondary schools is planned in Georgia. By 2030, all Georgian schools will be fully modernized and aligned with internationally recognized standards, he stated at the Transforming Education Summit (TES), held within the framework of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly.

    NBG SOLD $13.6M OUT OF $20M PUT UP FOR AUCTION

    National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported about sell of $13.6 million out of $20 million brought on currency auction today. The average weighted exchange rate made up 2.8445 GEL/USD.


    NBG: IN 2021, STAFF TURNOVER IN GEORGIAN BANKING SECTOR INCREASED BY 5 PP

    National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported that in 2021, staff turnover in Georgian banking sector made up 17%. If compared with 2020, the rate has increased by 5 percentage points (pp), NBG said.

    “AIR MOLDOVA” PLANS LAUNCH OF FLIGHTS TO GEORGIA

    Moldovan airline Air Moldova plans to start operation at Tbilisi airport, TAV Georgia (operator of Tbilisi and Batumi airports) declared. As TAV Georgia noted, upon completion of the relevant procedures, direct flights between Chisinau and Tbilisi will be carried out from October.


    “TBC BANK” SIGNED NEW CREDIT AGREEMENTS WITH EBRD AND DEG

    TBC Bank Group declared that its subsidiary TBC Bank signed recently credit agreements with EBRD and German Investment and Development Corporation (DEG).

    In particular, credit agreement of $20 million (in lari equivalent) was signed on September 14 with EBRD.

    NBG: 9 BANKS HAVE A BODY OR AN OFFICER RESPONSIBLE FOR ENVIRONMENTAL AND SOCIAL POLICY

    National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported that 9 Georgian banks have a special body or an officer, responsible for overseeing the implementation of environmental and social policy.

    This information is based on Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) reporting forms, submitted by 13 banks, operating on the local market.


    NBG: WORK ON ESG RISK MANAGEMENT GUIDELINES IS PLANNED TO COMPLETE BY THE END OF THE YEAR

    National Bank of Georgia (NBG) declared that completion of the guide on Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) risks is planned to complete by the end of 2022.

    NBG said this in its recent report on sustainable financing, which publishing was started in 2021.


    ZUGDIDI GOT EU GRANT FOR IMPLEMENTATION OF CULTURAL DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY

    Zugdidi received an EU grant of 300,000 EUR for implementation of a 5-year Cultural Development Strategy (2022-2026), the EU representation in Georgia reported. The funds were allocated as part of the “EU4Culture” grant program.
