THE PARLIAMENT DECLARED VOTE OF CONFIDENCE TO THE GOVERNMENT
At the extraordinary plenary session late at night on June 20, the Parliament declared vote of confidence to the government. Pro voted 99 MPs, against – 6 MPs (total number of MPs makes up 150).
NEW PREMIER: BECAUSE OF GEORGIA’S ECONOMY SIZE, WE DO NOT NEED MORE THAN 11 MINISTRIES
New Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze said that “In general, proceeding from Georgia’s economy size, we do not need more that 11 ministries” (current structure of the government includes 14 ministers).
“One of the first initiatives, which we will submit to the Parliament, will be concept of the small government”, Bakhtadze declared in the Parliament, before voting of confidence to the government on June 20 (need for it arose after Giorgi Kvirikashvili’s resignation from Prime Minister’s post on June 13).
NEW FINANCE MINISTER: SOCIAL EXPENDITURE WILL GROW IN PROPORTION TO GDP GROWTH
New Finance Minister Nikoloz Gagua declared that “medium-term fiscal framework, despite a declining tendency of operating costs, will maintain mark of 9-10% for direction of social security”.
It means that “social expenditure will grow in proportion to GDP growth”, Gagua explained, stressing that the mentioned indicator was within 7-8% until 2013 (i.e. prior to come to power of Georgian Dream).
STATE AUDIT SERVICE: IMPLEMENTATION OF SOLID WASTE PROJECT OF AJARA WAS NOT BEGUN IN 2017 ALSO
Credit agreement on the solid waste project of Ajara was signed in 2010, however implementation of the project and mastering of allocated credit was not begun in 2017 also, report of State Audit Service indicates.
As a result, liability fee (0.5%) is paid annually on unmastered part of the credit (2.97 million EUR), the report specifies.
STATE AUDIT SERVICE: ALLOCATED FUNDS ARE NOT FULLY MASTERED WITHIN REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROJECT (IMERETI)
State Audit Service indicates that credit agreement with the World Bank (the WB, represented by its group member IBRD), related to additional part of regional development project (Imereti region), was signed on May 7, 2016, but mastering of $9 million, envisaged by the agreement, was not conducted within the project until end of 2017.
Respectively, 68,000 lari are paid during 2017 as liability fee on unmastered part of the credit, report of the Service specifies.
SINCE JULY, PERIODIC TECHNICAL INSPECTION OF CARS OF STATE DEPARTMENTS AND LEGAL ENTITIES BEGINS
Since July 1, periodic technical inspection begins for cars, belonging to state departments and legal entities, the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development declared.
As the Ministry noted, passing of examination is possible in 32 accredited centers countrywide
For simplification of inspection process and improvement of service, the website (www.pti.ge) and the hot line (1484, since January) are launched, the Ministry said.
