    RULING PARTY NAMED CANDIDATES FOR MAJORITARIAN MPS

    On July 20, ruling Georgian Dream presented candidates for majoritarian MPs. To remind, parliamentary elections have to take place in Georgia in October.


    GEORGIA ALLOWS SPORTS FUNS ON STADIUMS OF OPEN TYPE

    Interdepartmental coordination council, created by Georgian government for fight against COVID-19 spread, decided today to allow funs at sporting events on stadiums of open type.

    Audience will be allowed according to rules and protocol, which the Ministry of IDs from Occupied Territories, Labor, Healthcare and Social Protection will publish soon, Georgian government reported.

    AS OF 6 MONTHS OF THE YEAR, GEORGIA HAD NEGATIVE TRADE BALANCE WITH 89 COUNTRIES, POSITIVE – WITH 40

    Sakstat released estimation for 6 months of this year Georgia had negative trade balance with 89 countries, which totals to $2.26 billion.

    In the same period of 2019, Georgia had negative trade balance of $2.8 billion with 99 countries.


    IN JANUARY-JUNE, 10 COUNTRIES ACCOUNTED FOR 69.4% OF GEORGIA’S TOTAL IMPORT

    Sakstat released estimation for January-June, according to which Georgia imported goods of $2.5 billion from 10 countries. Respectively, share of these countries in Georgia’s total commodity import ($3.55 billion) made up 69.4%.


    IN JANUARY-JUNE, 10 COUNTRIES ACCOUNTED FOR 77.4% OF GEORGIA’S TOTAL EXPORT

    Sakstat released estimation for January-June, according to which Georgia exported goods of $1.16 billion to 10 countries. Respectively, share of these countries in Georgia’s total commodity export ($1.5 billion) made up 77.4%.


    WITHIN THE EU-FINANCED PROGRAM, 5M LARI ALLOCATED TO 11 GEORGIAN MUNICIPALITIES

    Within the EU-financed pilot program on integrated development of regions, Georgian government issued grants totaling to 5 million lari to first 11 municipalities of the country, the EU representation in Georgia reported.

    The funds are intended for development of local infrastructure and business in 4 regions – Kakheti, Imereti, Guria, Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti.


    AS OF JUNE 30, NUMBER OF DEBIT CARDS IN CIRCULATION DECREASED BY 3.8% Y-O-Y

    National Bank of Georgia reported that as of June 30, there were 6.2 million debit cards in circulation in the country. The number has increased by 2.6% quarter-on-quarter, but decreased by 3.8% year-on-year.


    AS OF JUNE 30, NUMBER OF CREDIT CARDS IN CIRCULATION DECREASED BY 19.1% Y-O-Y

    National Bank of Georgia reported that as of June 30, there were 546,785 credit cards in circulation in the country. The number has decreased by 4.6% quarter-on-quarter and by 19.1% year-on-year.

    “AIR FRANCE” TO RESUME FLIGHTS TO GEORGIA IN AUGUST

    Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Natia Turnava declared that Air France will resume flights to Georgia in the beginning of August. Flights between Paris and Tbilisi will be conducted 2 times a week.


    IN 2019, “SAKARTVELOS BANKI” ISSUED DIVIDENDS TWICE

    In 2019, Sakartvelos Banki (Bank of Georgia) announced dividends twice, audited annual report of the bank indicates.

    First, dividends from intermediate profit of 2018 were announced as 4.97 lari per share.


    WITH SUPPORT OF “PRODUCE IN GEORGIA”, ACCESSORIES WERE EXPORTED TO FRANCE

    Georgian Economy and Sustainable Development Ministry’s Agency Produce in Georgia reported that it assisted to export of accessories to France, which total cost made up 410,000 lari.
