    GEORGIA AND TURKEY ESTABLISHED JOINT TRADE ECONOMIC COMMISSION

    Georgia and Turkey signed today in Tbilisi an agreement, envisaging establishment of joint economic and trade commission (JETCO). The signing ceremony was held within visit to Georgia of Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim.

    ISSUES OF INTERNAL AUDIT DISCUSSED IN NBG

    National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported that within cooperation with the central bank of the Netherlands, issues of internal audit were discussed today.

    Participants of the meeting considered such issues as changes in international standards of professional practice of internal audit, risk-based approach, fraud risk assessment, benefit of internal audit in corporate management, etc., NBG said.


    WORKING VERSION OF ENVIRONMENTAL AND SOCIAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT REPORT FOR ANAKLIA PORT PROJECT IS PLANNED TO PUBLICIZE IN JUNE

    Publication of the working version of environmental and social impact assessment report for the project of deep-water port construction in Anaklia is planned, approximately, in June, while of the final version – in August.

    Such schedule is provided in the already published report on preliminary research (scoping) of environmental and social impact of the project.


    ABOUT TWO THIRDS OF LANDS ARE SUBJECT TO BUY-OUT WITHIN CONSTRUCTION OF ANAKLIA PORT

    As of today, about one third of lands within area of the deep-water Anaklia port construction project is owned by the government of Georgia, while remained two thirds should be redeemed.

    Such schedule is provided in the already published report on preliminary research (scoping) of environmental and social impact of the project.


    NEW TARIFFS ESTABLISHED FOR INTERNATIONAL CALLS’ TERMINATION

    National Communication Commission declared that new tariffs are established for international calls’ termination (implementation) in Georgia.

    In particular, the tariff for wireless (mobile) network operator makes up now $0.22 (in lari equivalent) per 1 min, the Commission said.

    “GOLDEN CROWN” ACCOUNT FOR 24% OF REMITTANCES TO GEORGIA AND 40.8% OF ONES ABROAD IN Q1

    National Bank of Georgia reported that Golden Crown accounted for 24% of total remittances, transferred in the 1st quarter to Georgia, and for 40.8% of transfers from Georgia abroad.

    In January-March, $69.73 million was transferred to Georgia through this system, increasing in volume by 38.7% year-on-year.


    WITHIN TENDER ON BATUMI BYPASS ROAD CONSTRUCTION, FINANCIAL OFFERS OF 10 COMPANIES ARE OPENED

    Roads Department reported that financial offers, submitted for international tender on Batumi bypass road construction, are opened.

    In total, financial offers were presented by 22 companies, but only 10 of them were shortlisted, which offers will be considered, the Department said.


    “TABAN AIRLINES” STARTS FLIGHTS BETWEEN ISFAHAN AND TBILISI

    Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported that Iranian air carrier TABAN Airlines starts regular flights between Isfahan and Tbilisi.

    Flights will be conducted 2 times a week (on Tuesdays and Fridays) from June 23 to September 26 by Boeing 737 and McDonnell-Douglas-88 planes.


    “NIKORA TRADE” FINISHED 2016 WITH LOSSES

    LLC Nikora Trade (food supermarkets’ chain) reported loss of 7.68 million lari for 2016. If compared with 2015, the volume has increased by 7% consolidated annual report of the company said.

    3 PERSONS DETAINED ON CHARGES OF FRAUDULENT APPROPRIATION OF THE STATE PROPERTY

    Investigative Service of the Finance Ministry declared about detention of 3 persons on charges of fraudulent appropriation of state-owned real estate, committed by organized group.

    These persons had forged in 2014-2017 fake acts on land plots delivery to dozens of citizens, which are in criminal connection with them, submitted them to the Public Register and registered property on themselves, the Service specified.
