    “SAKSTAT”: IN 2016, INCOME OF 2,384 ENTERPRISES, ENGAGED IN FINANCIAL SERVICE, TOTALED TO 4.43B LARI

    Sakstat reported that in 2016, there were 2,284 enterprises, engaged in financial service, which declared income totaled to 4.43 billion lari.

    Out of total, interest income and equated to it other revenues accounted for 71.1%, commission charges and income from rendered service – 10.9%, while the rest 18% was “other income”.


    REPRESENTATIVES OF PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SECTORS DISCUSSED CHALLENGES AND PROSPECTS OF TRANSPORT AND LOGISTIC SPHERE

    Today, dialogue between public and private sectors was held today in the Parliament, being initiated by Committee on Branch Economy and Economic Policy and organized by Business and Economy Center (BEC).

    The dialogue was held within USAID-financed project “Governance for Growth” (G4G).


    AGRICULTURE MINISTRY: THE STATE PLANS TO TREAT WITH CHEMICALS UP TO MILLION HA IN FIGHT AGAINST BROWN MARMORATED STINK BUG

    Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture declared that for 2018, the state plans to treat with chemicals up to 1 million ha in fight against brown marmorated stink bug (Halyomorpha halys). For that end, 360 t of chemicals is planned to use.


    FAO-EBRD JOINT RESEARCH: GEORGIAN COMMERCIAL MILK FARMERS CAN RAISE EFFICIENCY OF PRODUCTION BY 35%

    Referring to joint research of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and EBRD, representation of FAO declared that application of simple changes in activity will allow Georgian commercial farmers to raise efficiency of milk production by 35%. The representation indicated that these changes do not require big investments.


    STATE PROGRAMS FOR RURAL DEVELOPMENT ARE CONSIDERED IN REGIONS

    Representation of the UN Development Program (UNDP) reported about consideration of the state programs for rural development, being underway in regions with assistance of UNDP.

    For the moment, considerations were already held in Lagodekhi (Kakheti region) and Kazbegi (Mtskheta-Mtianeti region), being attended by over 150 representatives of the government, civil society, local communities and local action groups (LAGs), UNDP representation said.


    “CITY INSTITUTE GEORGIA” IS GIVEN 10 DAYS FOR CORRECTION OF SHORTCOMINGS IN GENERAL PLAN OF TBILISI

    Tbilisi City Hall declared that certain shortcomings are revealed in the master plan of Tbilisi development, on which City Institute Georgia works. The company is given 10-day term for correction of the shortcomings, the City Hall said.

    CONSTRUCTION WORKS STARTED IN ANAKLIA PORT

    On December 24, construction of the deep-water port Anaklia was officially launched.

    Works within the 1st phase will be conducted in 2017-2021 on the territory of 110 ha, volume of investments makes up $540 million, reports Anaklia Development Consortium (created by Georgian TBC Bank and American Conti Group).


    TARIFFS OF “GEORGIAN STATE ELECTROSYSTEM” AND 5 WATER STATIONS OF “ENERGOPRO GEORGIA” ARE RAISED

    National Energy and Water Supply Regulating Commission established today tariffs for electricity generation in 2018-2020 of hydroelectric stations, owned by JSC EnergoPro Georgia (regional energy distributor).

    Tariffs established also for electricity transmission and dispatching by Georgian State Electrosystem.


    “GWP”: IN THE CURRENT YEAR, OVER 80M LARI WAS SPENT FOR RENEWAL OF WATER SUPPLY INFRASTRUCTURE

    Georgian Water&Power (GWP, Tbilisi company of water supply and sewerage) declared that over 80 million lari were spent in the current year for renewal of water supply infrastructure.

    Management of GWP said the mentioned today, while reporting on activity of the company for 2017, and noted that 190 km of networks were replaced on 200 streets of the city.

    HOT LINE TO BE LAUNCHED FOR CAR OWNERS

    Since January 3, 2018, hot line (1484) for car owners will start operation, Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development announced.

    Besides consultations, operators of the hot line will render assistance to citizens in online booking of visits to the vehicles testing centers, the Ministry said.
