    IDFI: GEORGIA HAS NOT TAKEN YET EFFECTIVE STEPS TOWARDS IDENTIFYING BENEFICIARY OWNERS

    Georgia has not taken yet effective steps towards identifying beneficiary owners and ensuring transparency, the Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI) declared.

    IDFI noted that Georgian government undertook liability to study need of beneficiary owners register’s creation during London anti-corruption summit in 2016.

    GEORGIA DISCUSSED PRIORITY AREAS OF TRADE AND ECONOMIC COOPERATION WITH SERBIA

    Gennady Arveladze, Georgia’s Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, met with Serbia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Vladimir Maric, who pays a working visit to Georgia.

    As Georgian Ministry reported, the parties considered priority areas of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.

    Levan Davitashvili, Georgia’s Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, indicated that currently, area of olive plantations in Georgia totals to 1,000 ha. “Our plan is to cover an area of several tens of thousands ha with olive plantations in near future”, he declared.

    GOVERNMENT ESTIMATES THAT DUE TO THE PANDEMIC, “SAKAERONAVIGATSIA” DIDN’T RECEIVE IN 2020 REVENUES OF 50M LARI, “GEORGIAN AIRPORTS ASSOCIATION” – 45M LARI

    Georgian government reported that as a result of COVID-19, LLC Sakaeronavigatsia (Georgian Air Navigation) did not receive in 2020 operating income of about 50 million lari.

    In the document, enclosed to the draft state budget-2022, the government specifies that because of the pandemic, number of flights in Georgian airspace in 2020 dropped by 53%.


    GOVERNMENT: MAIN NEGATIVE IMPACT OF THE PANDEMIC ON “OIL AND GAS CORPORATION” IN 2020 WAS DECLINE OF AVERAGE GAS PRICE

    Georgian government said that negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on revenues of Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation in 2020 was caused mainly by decline of average gas price.

    As the government explained, following instructions of the government, the Corporation signed during the pandemic an agreement with its main client (SOCAR Gas Georgia), according to which, in exchange for a discount of $15 for every 1,000 cubic m of gas, SOCAR Gas Georgia assumed to maintain not increased gas tariff for the population.


    IN 2020, LOSS OF “GEORGIAN UNITED WATER SUPPLY COMPANY” INCREASED 2.4 TIMES

    Georgian government reported that in 2020, loss of the state LLC Georgian United Water Supply Company made up 205 million lari. If compared with 2019, the volume has increased 2.4 times.


    “GEORGIAN RAILWAY” FINISHED Q3 WITH PROFIT

    State-owned JSC Georgian Railway reported profit of 10.9 million lari for 9 months of this year. In the same period of 2020, JSC had loss of 169.6 million lari.


    AS OF SEPTEMBER 30, NUMBER OF MOBILE SUBSCRIBERS IN GEORGIA INCREASED BY 5.9% Y-O-Y

    Georgian National Communication Commission reported that as of September 30, there were 5.1 million mobile subscribers in Georgia. If compared with the same period of 2020, the number has increased by 5.9%.
