    IN OCTOBER, GEORGIA’S REAL GDP GROWTH MADE UP 6.9%

    Sakstat reported that in October, Georgia’s real GDP growth made up 6.9%. Average growth rate for 10 months of this year made up 10.5%.


    ACCORDING TO THE LATEST DATA, ACCUMULATIVE PENSION SCHEME HAS 1.21M PARTICIPANTS

    Georgian Pension Agency reported that as of November 2, number of registered participants of the accumulative pension scheme (enacted in 2019) made up about 1.21 million. Pension assets totaled to 1.83 billion lari.


    DEPUTY MINISTER: AGROINSURANCE DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY IS PREPARED

    Giorgi Khanishvili, Georgia’s Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, declared that the Ministry has prepared a strategy for development of agricultural insurance.

    The Deputy Minister said this on November 29, at a joint meeting of the Parliament Committees – on Agrarian Issues and on Branch Economy and Economic Policy, which discussed issues of agricultural insurance.

    IN Q3, GEORGIAN OPERATORS’ INCOME FROM FIXED INTERNET SERVICES INCREASED BY 9.4% Y-O-Y

    Georgian National Communication Commission reported that in the 3rd quarter, Georgian telecom operators’ income from fixed internet services totaled to 66.5 million lari. If compared with the same period of 2020, the volume has increased by 9.4%.


    IN Q3, GEORGIAN OPERATORS’ INCOME FROM TEXT MESSAGING SERVICE INCREASED 4.4 TIMES Y-O-Y

    Georgian National Communication Commission reported that in the 3rd quarter, Georgian telecom operators’ income from text messaging services (SMS) totaled to 9.8 million lari. If compared with the same period of 2020, the volume has increased 4.4 times.


    GEORGIAN GOVERNMENT ESTIMATES THAT REVENUES LOST BY “ENGURHES” DUE TO ILLEGAL CRYPTOMINING IN ABKHAZIA TOTALED TO AT LEAST 9M LARI IN 2020

    Georgian government reported that due to the pandemic, consumption of electricity on the controlled territory of Georgia decreased in 2020 by about 10%, but increased by 24% in Russia-occupied Abkhazia.

    In this period, growth of cryptocurrencies’ value happened, so we can conclude that growth in consumption is entirely due to cryptomining, the government indicated.


    IN 2020, LOSS OF JSC “BORJOMI-LIKANI INTERNATIONAL” DECREASED 2.2 TIMES

    JSC Borjomi-Likani International (operates a 5-star hotel in Borjomi) reported loss of 4.6 million lari for 2020. If compared with 2019, the volume has decreased 2.2 times.
