    GEORGIAN PREMIER: WE HAVE TO ENSURE THROUGH JOINT EFFORTS MAXIMUM GROWTH OF TRADE TURNOVER WITH UKRAINE

    Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili declared that “for years, Ukraine remains essential trade partner of Georgia” (the 5th position this year) and trade turnover between the countries grew in this year by 19% up to nearly $500 million.

    “However, these figures do not reflect the full potential of our countries’ economic cooperation, we have to set ambitious goals and to ensure through joint efforts the maximum growth of trade turnover”, Georgian Premier declared after meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodimir Groysman in Tbilisi today.


    THE PREMIER: FOR 2020, WE PRESENTED PLAN OF REFORMS, WHICH WILL ALLOW US TO ADVANCE FURTHER TOWARDS EUROPE

    We have presented plan of comprehensive reforms until 2020, which will allow us to advance further towards Europe, Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili declared.

    The Premier said this, while summing up results of the 5th summit of Eastern Partnership, which took place on November 24 in Brussels.


    DIRECTOR OF THE EU STUDIES CENTER: DECLARATION OF THE SUMMIT CAUTIOUSLY UNDERLINES POSSIBILITY OF DIFFERENTIATION OF EASTERN PARTNERSHIP’S FORMAT

    While analyzing results of the Easter Partnership summit, Kakha Gogolashvili, director of the EU Studies Center at Rondeli Foundation (Georgian Foundation for Strategic and International Studies), points at possibility of further differentiation of format of the Partnership.

    “The declaration underlines exactly this opportunity, certainly, delicately and carefully, when states that “participants of the summit welcome the increased differentiation in “bilateral relations with partners”“, Gogolashvili specifies.


    DAVID PERADZE APPOINTED DIRECTOR GENERAL OF “GEORGIAN RAILWAY”

    State-owned JSC Georgian Railway declared that its supervisory council has approved recently David Peradze at the vacant post of director general of the company.

    Until now, Peradze was director of LLC MtkvariHES, subsidiary of Georgian Co-Investment Fund.

    DEPUTY PREMIER: POLITICAL CONSENT RECEIVED FROM ADB ON FINANCING OF PROJECT OF NORTH-SOUTH HIGHWAY

    Today, Georgia’s First Deputy Premier, acting Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Dimitri Kumsishvili held a meeting with vice-president of Asian Development Bank (ADB) Wencai Zhang, who arrived to Georgia within Tbilisi Silk Road Forum.

    Reconstruction of high-speed East-West Highway (E60) and part of local road projects is conducted through financing of ADB, Kumsishvili pointed and added that “we for a long time” spoke with ADB about financing of the North-South direction.


    “BDO”: LOW-BUDGET HOTEL SEGMENT IN GEORGIA IS UNDER-DEVELOPED

    Research, conducted by audit company BDO, states that “low-budget hotel segment is under-developed” in Georgia.

    For research needs, the company grouped hotels of the country into three main categories: “low-budget hotels (offering limited, low budget, low to medium quality services), mid-scale hotels (including local and international hotels, that offer high level, full assortment of services and qualify for four stars) and upscale hotels (including only international, full-service)”.


    TBILISI CITY HALL TO GET ADDITIONAL 60M LARI FROM THE CENTRAL BUDGET NEXT YEAR

    Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze met today with acting Finance Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze and considered the capital’s budget for next year with him.

    As Bakhtadze said, Georgian government has studied the projects, planned by Tbilisi government, and “the decision is made to increase budget of the projects, which should be implemented in the city of Tbilisi, by around 60 million lari”.


    NATIONAL FOOD AGENCY INSPECTS SOFT DRINKS ENTERPRISES

    National Food Agency reported that this year, 37 inspections of soft drinks producers were conducted countrywide in this year.

    After the inspections, 9 business operators were fined because of violation of labeling rules and noncritical discrepancies, the Agency said.

    REGULATING COMMISSION FINED “GWP”

    National Energy and Water Supply Regulating Commission reported about fining of Georgian Water&Power (GWP, water supply and sewerage company of Tbilisi) because of violation of license conditions. The company will have to pay 5,000 lari to the state budget.

    FIRE IN BATUMI “LEOGRAND” HOTEL KILLED 11 PEOPLE

    Ajara government declared that 11 people died because of fire in Batumi hotel LeoGrand, including 1 foreigner. More 20 people were wounded.
