PRIME MINISTER: TOURISM REALLY BECAME IMPORTANT DRIVER OF OUR COUNTRY’S ECONOMY
Tourism really became important driver of our country’s economy, Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili declared at today’s presentation of National Tourism Administration’s report for 2017. In 2017, over 7.5 million international travelers arrived to Georgia and gain from tourism amounted to $2.7 billion, the Premier said.
THE SECOND MEETING WITHIN THE STRATEGY OF GREEN GROWTH WAS HELD
Today, the second working meeting took place within the strategy of green growth, the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported. As the Ministry said, modeling of spheres, included in the strategy, was presented at the meeting by Andrea Basi, expert of Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).
CONSULTING COUNCIL FOR FACILITATION TO PRIVATE SECTOR’S DEVELOPMENT HELD NEXT MEETING

Today, meeting of managing committee of the EU-financed Twinning project (cooperation of European and Georgian similar structures) was held in National Communication Commission. At the meeting, results and challenges of the 1st quarter of this year were estimated (the project in the Commission was launched in December 2017), the Commission said.

“FITCH” REVISED OUTLOOK FOR GEORGIAN OIL AND GAS CORPORATION FROM “STABLE” TO “POSITIVE”
Fitch Ratings declared that Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation’s rating “BB-” is affirmed, while outlook is revised from “stable” to “positive”. The agency indicated strong ties of the Corporation with its owner, state-owned Georgian Partnership Fund, which also has “BB-” rating with “stable” outlook.
“FITCH”: SUBSTITUTION OF “BGEO” AS THE ISSUER WITH “SAKARTVELOS BANKI” WILL NOT INFLUENT THE RATING
Fitch Ratings declared that substitution of BGEO Group, as Eurobonds’ issuer, with Sakartvelos Banki (Bank of Georgia) will not affect rating as both of them are equally rated at the level of “BB-” with “stable” outlook. The substitution was held on March 23.
BSTDB ALLOCATES 75M LARI TO “SAKARTVELOS BANKI”
Black Sea Trade and Development Bank (BSTDB) will allocate financing of 75 million lari ($30 million) to Sakartvelos Banki (Bank of Georgia), which will be directed to financing of small and medium business in Georgia. Credit agreement between BSTDB and Sakartvelos Banki was signed in Tbilisi today.
SPECIAL MANAGING DIRECTOR TO STAY IN “KAZTRANSGAS-TBILISI” UNTIL 2019
Term of office of the special managing director in KazTransGas-Tbilisi (the capital gas-distributing company) is extended, National Energy and Water Supply Regulating Commission declared. The respective decision was made at the Commission meeting today.
ECONOMY MINISTRY: STAFF OPERATING ROPEWAYS OF “DOPPELMAYR” IN GEORGIA WILL PASS ADDITIONAL RETRAINING
Experts of Austrian company Doppelmayr will arrive to Georgia once again in the next few days and will additionally check the ropeways, installed by them in mountain resorts of Hatsvali, Goderdzi, Bakuriani and Gudauri, Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported. The Ministry pointed that all employees, which work at ropeways of Doppelmayr, are trained enough, but following the accident in Gudauri, they will pass additional retraining course in Georgia.
