    EDUARD SHEVARDNADZE FINDS THE RESULTS OF THE SUMMIT OF CIS COUNTRY-MEMBER LEADERS IMPORTANT

    The Georgian President mentioned the importance of the fact, that at the yesterday’s summit in Moscow was approved the presented by Georgia document on regulating the Abkhazian conflict. As mentioned Eduard Shevardnadze, perhaps, this may not bring the final practical results, but the fact itself of its acceptance by the meeting participants is extremely important.


    THE GEORGIAN DELEGATION WILL PARTICIPATE IN THE MEETING OF THE FOREIGN AFFAIR MINISTERS OF THE BLACK SEA ECONOMIC COOPERATION (BSEC) COUNTRY-MEMBERS

    With this purpose to Yerevan, where the meeting will be held, departed the Georgian Delegation. The Georgian first Deputy Minister of the Foreign Affairs Mikhail Ukleba headed the delegation.


    THE HEAD OF THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY OF THE ARMENIAN REPUBLIC KHOSROV ARUTYUNIAN ARRIVES ON MAY 1 TO TBILISI

    There are planned his meetings with the Georgian President Eduard Shevardnadze, Parliament Chairman Zurab Zhvania, State Minister Niko Lekishvili, Catholicos-Patriarch Ilya II, representatives of the legislative and executive authorities. The Head of the National Assembly of the Armenian Republic will speak at the plenary sitting of the Georgian Parliament.


    EDUARD SHEVARDNADZE INVITED THE APPOINTED COMMANDER OF THE CIS COLLECTIVE PEACEKEEPING FORCES, IN THE ZONE OF THE GEORGIAN-ABKHAZIAN CONFLICT, GENERAL-MAJOR SERGEI KOROBKO TO TAKE A TRIP TO GEORGIA

    The Russian President Boris Yeltsin also supported this proposal. As it is known, the military contingent was brought in the conflict zone on June 23 of 1994.


    VALERI CHKHEIDZE WELL CHARACTERIZED THE RELATIONS BETWEEN THE BORDER-GUARD DEPARTMENTS OF RUSSIA AND GEORGIA

    At the yesterday's press conference in Tbilisi, commenting the moving out of the Russian border-guard subdivisions from the Georgian territory, the Head of the Department of the Georgian border-guard General-Major Valeri Chkheidze stated, that this does not lead to a break up in relations, but, on the contrary, to the bigger integration with the Russian border-guardians. According to him, the Department takes a great responsibility on guarding the Georgian State border with its own forces.


    THE PEOPLE STILL DIE IN GALI REGION

    In the village Mziuri of the Gali region the day before yesterday exploded the coming from Sukhumi car, in which were located the members of the Security Service of the self-proclaimed Republic of Abkhazia. Because of the explosion 2 members of the service died on the spot, one – is heavily wounded.


    THE SUPREME COUNSEL CHAIRMAN OF THE ABKHAZIAN AUTONOMOUS REPUBLIC MET WITH THE EXTRAORDINARY AND PLENIPOTENTIARY AMBASSADOR OF FRANCE TO GEORGIA

    At the meeting were discussed the perspectives of the Geneva Coordination Counsel on regulating the conflict in Abkhazia, the situation in the conflict zone, the results of the CIS country-members summit. As stated Tamaz Nadareishvili, any, even positive, decision of the summit will not give practical results.


    THE CHAIRMAN OF THE GEORGIAN PARLIAMENT RECEIVED THE NEW EXTRAORDINARY AND PLENIPOTENTIARY AMBASSADOR OF ISRAEL TO GEORGIA

    As the Ambassador mentioned at his yesterday's meeting, although he stays in Georgia for only a week he was able to get ascertained in the relation uniqueness of Georgian and Jewish nations, whose 2600th anniversary of living side to side will be celebrated this year. At the meeting was emphasized, that recently their mutual relationship is characterized by the special dynamic, one of the colorful examples of which is the recent visit to Israel of the Georgian President.


    TODAY IS CELEBRATED THE 7TH ANNIVERSARY OF CREATING THE GEORGIAN ARMED FORCES

    To this occasion is dedicated the gala meeting, which will be held in the Officers’ House of the Georgian army. There will participate the Georgian President Eduard Shevardnadze.
