    FINANCIAL REGULATORS DISCUSSED CYBER-SECURITY

    National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported about workshop “Cyber-Risks and Cyber-Flexibility for Financial Regulators”, which held in Tbilisi today. The event was organized by NBG and De Nederlandsche Bank (central bank of the Netherlands).

    AS OF SEPTEMBER 30, GEORGIA’S FOREIGN PUBLIC DEBT INCREASED BY 4.2% Y-O-Y

    Georgian Finance Ministry reported that foreign public debt of the country amounted as of September 30 to $5.36 billion. If compared with the same period of 2018, the volume has increased by 4.2%.


    9-MONTH PLAN OF THE BUDGET REVENUES FROM EXCISE IS UNDER-FULFILLED

    In 9 months of the year, tax revenues amounted to 7.18 billion lari (101.2% of the plan), Georgian government reported.

    Out of total, VAT collection made up 3.09 billion lari (102.6% of the plan), income tax – 2.36 billion lari (99.8% of the plan), excise – 993.41 million lari (91.3% of the plan).


    ECONOMY MINISTRY: FOR INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS, INVENTIONS’ PATENTING IN GEORGIA WILL BECOME SIMPLER

    Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported that Georgian government signed in Munich (Germany) an agreement with the European Patent Office (EPO).

    According to the agreement, validation of European patents in Georgia will be possible through unified European patent application, the Ministry specified.


    GEORGIA PLANS TO JOIN TO INTERNATIONAL AGREEMENT ON OLIVE OIL AND TABLE OLIVES

    Georgian Parliament considered at the plenary session today a draft resolution on accession of the country to the International Agreement on Olive Oil and Table Olives.

    While presenting the draft, Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Khatia Tsilosani pointed that accession is caused by a number of factors.

    ECONOMY MINISTER: NEW WIND POWER PLANT WILL BE BUILT NEAR NIGOZA

    “New wind power plant will be built in Gori municipality, nearby to village of Nigoza”, Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Natia Turnava declared. The station will generate 200 million kWh annually, she noted.


    REGULAR AIR COMMUNICATION BEGINS BETWEEN GEORGIA AND INDIA

    Regular air communication between Georgia and India begins, Georgian Civil Aviation Agency declared.

    In particular, Indian low-coster IndiGo will appear on the local market, which got respective permission on October 30.


    TBILISI HOSTS NEXT “MERCEDES-BENZ FASHION WEEK”

    Next Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Tbilisi was started on October 30 and will last until November 4.

    Within the event, spring and summer collections of season-2020 will be presented by the Georgian and foreign designers.

    DEPUTY ECONOMY MINISTER: WOMEN’S INSUFFICIENT INCLUSIVENESS IN BUSINESS ACTIVITY REMAINS A CHALLENGE

    “Despite significant progress, insufficient inclusiveness of women in business activity remains a challenge”, Georgia’s First Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Ekaterina Mikabadze declared. Share of female businessmen in the country is twice lower, than of men, she indicated.
