    COUNCIL TO BE CREATED FOR CONSIDERATION OF DISPUTES, RELATED TO STATE PROCUREMENTS

    Draft amendments to law “On State Procurements” envisages creation of council for consideration of disputes, related to state procurements, as independent body. According to current law, the council has to operate under the Agency of State Procurements.


    NON-GOVERNMENTAL ORGANIZATIONS: DECISION OF AUDITOR GENERAL CASTS SUSPICIONS ABOUT POLITICAL MOTIVATION

    It became known today that Irakli Mekvabishvili, appointed recently as new Auditor General, has fired two deputies – Nino Lomjaria and Devi Vepkhvadze, while left Nodar Javakhishvili on the post.

    “That fact that politically neutral deputies are discharged, while the post is maintained by person, affiliated with the ruling party, casts suspicions about political motivation of the decision”, leading non-governmental organizations pointed in their joint statement.

    THE GOVERNMENT FORECASTS FOR 2018 REAL GDP GROWTH OF 4.5%

    The government expects that real GDP growth in 2018 will make up 4.5%, while deflator – 3.5%. As the government noted, “fiscal and macroeconomic indicators for the next year are planned with conservative approach”.


    DRAFT BUDGET-2018: FORECASTED TAX REVENUES MAKE UP 23.4% OF GDP

    The government has submitted to the Parliament the draft state budget-2018, which projects tax revenues as 9.47 billion lari, i.e. 23.4% of GDP. To compare: the draft budget-2017 estimated tax revenues as 8.82 billion lari, i.e. 24.6% of GDP.


    IN 2016, BUSINESS SECTOR’S TURNOVER INCREASED BY 12.5% Y-O-Y, WHILE OUTPUT – BY 13.9%

    Sakstat reported that turnover of business sector amounted in 2016 to 64.1 billion lari, increasing year-on-year by 12.5%.

    In turn, output has increased by 13.9%, making up 34.2 billion lari.


    IN 2016, NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS’ TURNOVER INCREASED BY 2.7% Y-O-Y, WHILE OUTPUT – BY 18%

    Sakstat reported that turnover of non-profit organizations amounted in 2016 to 98.6 million lari, increasing year-on-year by 2.7%.

    Biggest share in total turnover had art, entertainment and leisure (26.5%), being followed by education (23.1%) and healthcare and social services (22.1%).


    THE PREMIER DISCUSSED EIB-FUNDED PROJECTS WITH VICE-PRESIDENT OF THE BANK

    Today, Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili met vice-president of European Investment Bank (EIB) Vazil Hudak, administration of Georgian government reported.

    As the administration noted, the parties discussed Georgia’s investment environment, structural reforms in the country and ongoing projects, funded by EIB.

    On September 30, shopping center Hualing Tbilisi Sea Plaza was officially opened in Tbilisi. The mall belongs to Chinese Hualing Group.
