AUDITOR GENERAL HAS NEW DEPUTIES

Today, Auditor General Irakli Mekvabishvili presented three deputies – David Gogichaishvili, Ekaterina Gazadze and Nodar Javakhishvili. The first two are newly appointed.




THE PREMIER DEFENDED IVANISHVILI’S PROJECT

“We need investors and I think, it is wrong to be silent and not protect investment just because it is Bidzina Ivanishvili”, Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili declared.

“The matter is that 20,000 people are employed today because of these investments – in Tbilisi, Guria, Samegrelo, Ajara”, the Premier pointed and specified that “investments exceed $680 million in total”.

9-MONTH NUMBER OF VISITORS INCREASED BY 19.2% Y-O-Y

Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported that during January-September, Georgia was visited by 5.82 million international visitors that by 19.2% exceeds indicator of the same period of last year. Number of tourists (visitors, who stay in the country for 24 hours at least) has increased by 28.8%, the Ministry pointed.




FUNDING OF REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND INFRASTRUCTURE MINISTRY TO INCREASE IN 2018 BY 572M LARI

According to the draft budget-2018, allocations to the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure should amount to 1.83 billion lari. This volume by 572 million lari exceeds funding of 2017.




FEASIBILITY REPORT PREPARED FOR THE PROJECT OF WATER SECTOR REFORM IN AJARA

The government of Ajara reported that final report on feasibility study is prepared for the project of rehabilitation of water-supply and sewerage systems in minor settlements of the region. The document, prepared by German consulting company MACS – Energy&Water, was considered today.




ALLOCATIONS FOR ASSISTANCE TO RTVELI TO HALVE IN 2018

According to the draft budget-2018, allocations for assistance to rtveli (vintage) are planned at 17 million lari. To compare: draft budget-2017 envisaged 35 million lari for the same purpose.

Georgian Partnership Fund declared that Al-Bawani Group (Saudi Arabia) expresses readiness to invest in various sectors of Georgia. Management of the company had a meeting in the Fund within their visit to Georgia.

14 PERSONS ARE DETAINED BECAUSE OF LARGE PROPERTY EMBEZZLEMENT

Investigative Service of the Finance Ministry declared that after investigation, held during several months, 14 persons were detained because of embezzlement of large property.

Investigation has established that the mentioned persons made during various periods false acts, dated for 1997-1998, according to which the state has handed over land plots to them, the Service said.
