    PRIME MINISTER: FIGHT AGAINST CRIME AND CRIMINAL WORLD WILL BECOME TOUGHER

    “We have worked out a package of legislative amendments, which provides toughening of punishment for members of criminal world and code-bound criminals”, Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili declared at the government meeting today. This is “very important initiative” of the Interior Ministry, he said.

    GEORGIAN FINANCE MINISTER MET WITH IMF MANAGEMENT

    Georgian Finance Ministry reported that within his visit to the US, the Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze held a meeting with the deputy managing director of IMF Tao Zhang.

    According to the Ministry, the parties discussed course of the IMF program in Georgia, the country’s fiscal indicators of 2017, macroeconomic situation and planned reforms.


    THE GOVERNMENT: RULES OF FOREST USE BECOME TOUGHER

    Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture has drafted amendments, which streamline and toughen rules of forest use, the government declared. The draft amendments were considered at the government meeting today.


    JAPAN HANDED OVER 96 ELECTRIC AND HYBRID CARS TO GEORGIA

    The government of Japan handed over to Georgia 96 electric and hybrid cars, Georgian government said.

    As Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili declared, originally, cars were intended for the government, but it was decided to pass them to Patrol Police.


    PRIME MINISTER: IT IS TIME TO TURN TO ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY TRANSPORT

    “It is time to turn to environmentally friendly transport”, Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili declared at the government meeting today. He noted: “I think, it is time to end era of black jeeps in Georgia”.


    GEORGIAN AGENCY FOR INNOVATIONS AND TECHNOLOGIES TO COOPERATE WITH ISRAELI “FRANK GROUP”

    Georgian Agency for Innovations and Technologies signed memorandum of cooperation with Israeli company Frank Group in Tbilisi today. The signing ceremony, which held in Tbilisi Technopark (Okrokana outskirts of the capital), was attended by Israeli ambassador in Georgia Shabtai Tsur.


    JANUARY GENERATION OF “KARTLI” WIND POWER PLANT EXCEEDED THE EXPECTED VOLUME

    In January, Kartli wind power plant generated 7.12 million kWh, exceeding the expected volume by 723,000 kWh (by 11.3%), Georgian Energy Development Fund reported.

    As the Fund said, from the moment of operation commencing (December 20, 2016), the station has generated in total 103.92 million kWh.


    REHABILITATION OF 15-KM ROAD COMPLETED IN ZESTAPONI MUNICIPALITY

    Rehabilitation of 15-km road near village of Rodinauli (Zestaponi municipality of Imereti region) is completed, Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure reported.

    Total cost of the project made up to 6 million lari, the Ministry said.


    NEXT RADIOMETRIC STUDY CONDUCTED ON TERRITORY OF FORMER INSTITUTE OF TEA AND SUBTROPICAL CROPS

    On the territory of former Institute of Tea and Subtropical Crops (Ozurgeti municipality of Guria region), next study of soil’s radioactive contamination was conducted, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture reported. The territory was polluted upon plunder of the Institute in 1990-ies, the Ministry noted.

    INTEREST TO LOGISTIC CENTERS’ DEVELOPMENT IN TBILISI AND KUTAISI WAS EXPRESSED BY 5 CONSORTIUMS

    Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported that interest to development of logistic centers in Tbilisi and Kutaisi was expressed by 5 consortiums.

    According to the Ministry, among applicants are companies registered in Georgia, as well as companies from China, Switzerland, Turkey, etc.


    PARTNERSHIP FUND: AVIATION PLANT WILL LAUNCH PRODUCTION THIS YEAR

    ATC, the plant producing composite details for civil airliners, will launch production in the current year, Georgian Partnership Fund declared.

    The plant has been built on territory nearby to Tbilisi airport within the joint project of the Fund and Israeli company Elbit Cyclone.


    CONSTRUCTION PERMIT ISSUED TO “SAMKURISTSKALI-2”

    Economy and Sustainable Development Ministry’s Agency for Technical and Construction Supervision declared that permission was issued to construction of hydroelectric station in Akhmeta municipality (Kakheti region). Construction of 26-MW hydroelectric station on Samkuristskali River will be conducted by LLC Peri.


    REGULATING COMMISSION RECOGNIZED LLC “TV ERA” AS LAWBREAKER

    National Communication Commission recognized LLC TV ERA as violator of laws “On Copyright and Related Rights” and “On Electronic Communications”.

    The Commission specified that TV ERA had conducted in own network in Georgia rebroadcast of those channels, which were not authorized by it.
