    KIDNAPPERS HAVE RELEASED THE UN OBSERVERS

    According to the President’s press service, this happened thanks to the efforts of the President's representatives, sent to the Kodori Canyon.     BUDGET CRISIS DEEPENING

    While analyzing the results of the implementation of the budget revenues and expenditures for January-May 2000, the budgetary office came to the conclusion that even the budget sequester of 150 million Lari, planned for the mid year, might not save Georgia.

    According to the office, 114 more million Lari added in January-May 2000 to the 272 million gap of the budget 1999.


    WE’LL HAVE TO APPLY DRAGON MEASURES AGAINST SMUGGLING, SHEVARDNADZE SAID

    Today, reminding in his radio interview about his intention “to turn economics with 180 degrees”, the President stressed that the radical measures would have to be applied for that and it would be necessary to suppress corruption and smuggling in the first place.

    He noted that the legislation tightening had begun, namely the illegal transpiration means and smuggled goods would be subject to confiscation from June.


    GEORGIAN INTERNATIONAL GAS CORPORATION HAS PRESENTED GAS-MAIN PROJECTS

    The head of the Georgian International Gas Corporation Alexi Gotsiridze conducted the presentation of the Transcaspian and Transcaucasian gas-main projects at the Technical University on June 5. He informed that the WB, OPIC, EBRD, Eximbanks of the USA and Japan have expressed desire to participate in the project of the Transcaspian gas main.

    ANADARKO REPRESENTATIVES PLANNING TO ARRIVE IN GEORGIA IN LATE JUNE FOR CONCLUDING THE AGREEMENT

    The draft agreement with the US company Anadarko on the share distribution of production was considered on June 3 by the Advisory Council on Foreign Investments at the Georgian President. It was presented by the chairman of the JSC Saknavtobi Council of Observers Revaz Tevzadze.

    3 LOCALS KIDNAPPED IN PANKISI CANYON
