    UN OBSERVERS GROUP HAS DISAPPEARED IN KODORI CANYON

    The official representative of the Georgian Foreign Ministry Avtandil Napetvaridze declared at the traditional briefing today that the Georgian law enforcement bodies jointly with the Sukhumi authorities and UNOMIG representatives (UN military observers mission in Georgia) are intensively searching the group, disappearing last night on June 1 in Kodori Canyon Abkhazia.

    Informing about the details of the incident, Napetvaridze said that the group of the UN military observers (5 people: 2 citizens of Denmark, 2 employees of the British non-governmental organizations Halo Trust and 1 local interpreter) was conducting the patrol encircling maneuver in the village Lata of Kodori Canyon on the Georgian-Abkhaz division line.


    NAPETVARIDZE THINKS THAT KAZANTSEV’S ANNOUNCEMENT IS DIRECTED TOWARDS AGGRAVATION OF TENSION BETWEEN TWO COUNTRIES

    As it is known, the Russian President’s plenipotentiary on the North Caucasus Victor Kazantsev declared about the necessity to close the Russian-Georgian border as according to him, rebels have found the way to Chechnya via the Georgian territory.

    The director of the Public Information Department of the Georgian Foreign Ministry Avtandil Napetvaridze estimated this announcement as “pure political, directed to the aggravation of the Georgian-Russian relations”.


    ITS EARLY TO SPEAK ABOUT DATES FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF A NEW AMBASSADOR IN RUSSIA, FOREIGN MINISTRY THINKS

    The director of the Public Information Department of the Georgian Foreign Ministry Avtandil Napetvaridze declared to journalists about this today. He informed that the Foreign Ministry of Georgia has been considering several candidatures on this post, however he did not disclose their names.

    Georgian International Oil Corporation issued this data on 1999 results. According to it, 24.82 million barrels of the early Caspian oil have been transported via the oil pipeline Baku-Supsa totally last year, with that, transit revenues made up 7.95 million Lari.

    INCIDENT IN SAMTSKHE-JAVAKHETI NOT HAVING CHARACTER OF OPPOSITION BETWEEN POPULATION AND CHURCH, PATRIARCHY DECLARES
