    ECONOMY MINISTER: THE STATE WILL NEVER MAKE ANY DECISION, DAMAGING ANAKLIA PORT

    “The state and the Economy Ministry will never make any decision, which will cause damage to Anaklia port”, Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Natia Turnava assured.

    The Minister declared this at the meeting of the Parliament’s Committee on Branch Economy and Economic Policy today and stressed that “this is not only a declaration”.


    NON-GOVERNMENTAL ORGANIZATIONS: THE GOVERNMENT HAS NO SINGLE VISION OF DECENTRALIZATION

    Georgian non-governmental organizations declared that there passed already almost a year since start of work on the new governmental strategy of decentralization, however the government still has no single vision of the subject.

    Currently existing project cannot be treated as full-fledged governmental strategy, as it is impossible to find out from this document, which powers, finance and property municipalities will have by 2025, non-governmental organizations specified.

    GEORGIAN PREMIER ACQUAINTED HEADS OF THE US INVESTMENT FUNDS WITH GEORGIA’S INVESTMENT ENVIRONMENT

    Within the visit to the US, Georgia’s Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze acquainted heads of the US leading investment funds with Georgia’s investment environment, press service of the Premier reported.

    The press service said that the meeting, which took place in San Francisco, was organized by Isaac “Yitz” Applbaum, cofounder and general partner of Israeli MizMaa Ventures.


    ECONOMY MINISTER: GEORGIA TODAY IS ATTRACTIVE NOT ONLY FOR STRATEGIC INVESTORS, BUT FOR FINANCIAL INVESTORS ALSO

    Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Natia Turnava declared that Georgia today is attractive not only for strategic investors, but also for financial investors, equity funds.

    In its turn, the Ministry will prepare offers for investors not only in terms of branches, but in terms of regions too, Turnava said.


    NEW TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM BEGINS IN GEORGIAN NATIONAL FOOD AGENCY

    Georgian Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture reported that new program of technical assistance to the National Food Agency is signed. The document was signed between the Ministry and regional program of the U N Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).


    ECONOMY MINISTER: PROJECT OF STATE PROPERTY’S DECENTRALIZATION WILL BE IMPLEMENTED IN 2019-2020

    In 2019-2020, the project of state property’s decentralization will be implemented, Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Natia Turnava reported, while speaking at the meeting of the Parliament’s Committee on Branch Economy and Economic Policy today.

    As the Minister explained, it is planned to define accurately criteria of hand-over of major not-alienated property, as well as of property, additionally intended for privatization, and acceleration of the process.


    “TI GEORGIA”: IN KUTAISI, CONSTRUCTION OF “DREAM CITY” IS NOT EVEN LAUNCHED, COMPLETION OF THE 1ST PHASE OF TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY IS POSTPONED

    Construction of “Dream City” in Kutaisi (a complex of hotels, aquapark, casino, entertaining facilities) is not even launched, while deadline for completion of the 1st phase of Technological University is postponed, TI Georgia (Georgian branch of Transparency International) reported.

    The organization noted that construction of the “Dream City” was announced as far back as 2016, when total investments was said to amount to 237 million EUR.

    ECONOMY MINISTRY: “COLUMBIA SHIPMANAGEMENT” WILL EMPLOY GEORGIAN CITIZENS ON CRUISE VESSELS

    Cyprus-based company Columbia Shipmanagement will employ Georgian citizens on cruise vessels, Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development declared. Respective agreement was signed between Georgian Agency of Maritime Transport and the company.
