    COORDINATION COUNCIL: DURATION OF OBLIGATORY QUARANTINE IS REDUCED TO 8 DAYS, ALL FOREIGNERS ARRIVING TO GEORGIA WILL HAVE TO PRESENT RESULT OF PCR TEST

    Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia declared that all citizens/residents of those countries, with which principle of reciprocity acts, who had arrived to Georgia freely, will have to present since September 15 results of PCR test, which is carried out within the last 72 hours.

    Respective decision was made at today’s meeting of interdepartmental coordination council, created by Georgian government for fight against COVID-19 spread.

    IN Q2, BUSINESS SECTOR’S TURNOVER REDUCED BY 11.5% Y-O-Y

    Sakstat reported that turnover of Georgian business sector for the 2nd quarter totaled to 22.3 billion lari. If compared with the same period of 2019, the volume has decreased by 11.5%.


    IN Q2, TURNOVER DECREASED Y-O-Y IN TRADE, MANUFACTURING, TRANSPORT, CONSTRUCTION, WHILE INCREASED IN SPHERES OF ART, ENTERTAINMENT AND LEISURE

    Sakstat reported that trade (including repairs of cars and motorcycles) accounted for biggest share in total turnover of Georgian business sector for the 2nd quarter (22.3 billion lari) – 8.2 billion lari, or 36.7%. If compared with the same period of 2019, the volume has reduced by 18%.


    IN Q2, AVERAGE NUMBER OF OCCUPIED DECREASED BY 8.1% Y-O-Y

    Sakstat reported that the 2nd quarter’s average number of occupied in Georgia made up 631,800 people. If compared with the same period of 2019, the number has reduced by 8.1%.


    IN Q2, GEORGIA’S IMPORT OF NATURAL GAS REDUCED BY 1.1% Y-O-Y

    Sakstat reported that Georgia’s import of natural gas in the 2nd quarter amounted to 376.3 million cubic m. If compared with the same period of 2019, the volume has reduced by 1.1%.


    IN Q2, GEORGIA’S ELECTRICITY GENERATION REDUCED BY 11.8% Y-O-Y

    Sakstat reported that Georgia’s generation of electric power in the 2nd quarter amounted to 2,929 GWh. If compared with the same period of 2019, the volume has reduced by 11.8%.


    NBG APPROVED RULE ON RISK MANAGEMENT FOR STATISTICAL, ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND MACHINE LEARNING MODELS

    National Bank of Georgia (NBG) approved rule on risk management for databased statistical, artificial intelligence and machine learning models in financial institutions. The rule enters in force on January 1, 2021.

    “SWEEFT DIGITAL” TO PARTICIPATE IN GEORGIAN INNOVATIONS AND TECHNOLOGIES AGENCY’S GRANT PROGRAM ON STARTUPS’ FINANCING

    Georgian Agency of Innovations and Technologies reported that international IT company Sweeft Digital joins the grant program on co-financing of startups.

    In exchange for partnership, Sweeft Digital will co-finance cost of services, necessary for IT, in individually selected startups, which won the 5th round of the program, the Agency specified.


    6-MONTH PROFIT OF “TBC INSURANCE” INCREASED BY 18.2% Y-O-Y

    TBC Insurance reported net profit of 7.05 million lari for the first half of the year. According to the report of this Georgian insurance company, the volume has increased by 18.2% year-on-year.
