    USA INTENDING TO RENDER ASSISTANCE TO GEORGIA IN THE STRUGGLE AGAINST DRUGS MAFIA

    The Interior Minister of Georgia Kakha Targamadze met the group of experts from the National department of the USA on the struggle against drugs mafia and drug industry. The American experts arrived in Georgia to study the situation on the struggle against drugs mafia in the country as well as to specify the directions of the assistance it can render to the country in this sphere.


    THE PARLIAMENT CRITICIZES THE FRACTION AGORDZINEBA’S POSITION ON THE GENOCIDE OF THE GEORGIAN POPULATION IN ABKHAZIA

    The fraction Agordzineba considers that the acknowledgment of the genocide by Georgia means to object to the reconciliation with Abkhazia. The hot debates arose at the session of the parliament of Georgia on this issue on September 9.

    THE TERM OF THE OBLIGATORY MILITARY SERVICE HAS BEEN REDUCED BY HALF YEAR

    The Parliament of Georgia made some amendments to the law “On Military Obligations and Military Service”. The term of the service both for the recruits and soldiers already in the army is now a year and a half.


    BORIS KAKUBAVA DEPRIVED OF THE PRIVILEGE OF THE PARLIAMENT

    Upon the request of the General Prosecutor’s office of Georgia the MPs have decided to deprive the privilege of the parliament Boris Kakubava. Together with the former state security minister of Georgia Igor Giorgadze he is accused of masterminding the assassination attempt of the President of Georgia and the coup d’etat.


    THE PARLIAMENT OF THE COUNTRY REQUESTED EU TO ACCEPT GEORGIA AS ITS ASSOCIATED MEMBER

    This decision has been unanimously made by the last Fall session of the Parliament of Georgia. Thus, the current Parliament has finished its work.

    CREDIT LINES OPENED BY EBRD FOR THE GEORGIAN COMMERCIAL BANKS WORKING REGULARLY

    According to the NB’s press-center of Georgia, this is the information delivered by the EBRD mission director Lins Forbes during his meeting with the NB president Irakli Managadze. Forbes noted that EBRD’s activity depends on the rate of the Georgian banking system’s achievements.


    IMF IS SATISFIED WITH THE SUCCESSFUL MONETARY POLICY IN GEORGIA

    According to the information delivered by the press-center of NB of Georgia, this announcement has been made by the head of the IMF mission Emmanuel van der Mensbruk, visiting Georgia. In his words, carrying out the hard-line and flexible monetary policy has conditioned by a new initiative of the fund on the program of Enhanced Structural Adjustment Facility (ESAF).

    GEORGIAN RESCUERS LEFT FOR GREECE

    The group of rescuers from the Department on Emergency Cases at the Interior Ministry of Georgia will render assistance to the people suffered from the earthquake in the vicinity of Athena. The Georgian experts have already carried out the same works in Turkey.


    THE HEAD OF LTD KAZBEGI HAS TO PAY FINE 3.5M LARI

    The court of the city Tbilisi made this decision, according to which, Gogi Topadze, the head of Kazbegi brewery company, has to pay this fine for illegal using of the tax concessions.Topadze is not going to pay the fine however, he considers the court’s decision to be illegal and is planing to apply to the Supreme Court. He said that he has been persecuted after establishing and becoming the head of the political party Industry Will Save Georgia.
