IMF LOWERED FORECAST OF GEORGIA’S ECONOMIC GROWTH FOR 2021
The IMF mission, which completed its 7th review of Georgia’s performance within the Find’s Extended Fund Facility, estimates that Georgia’s economic growth “to rebound to 4.3 percent in 2021 as the effects of the pandemic fade”. However, the mission indicates, that “considerable downside risks remain”.
IMF MISSION: PERFORMANCE UNDER FUND’S PROGRAM WAS SATISFACTORY IN THE FIRST HALF OF 2020
The IMF mission, which conducted 7th review of Georgia’s performance within the Find’s Extended Fund Facility (EFF), declared that staff-level agreement was reached with Georgian authorities on completion of the review, which is now subject to approval by the IMF executive board (expected in December). “Performance under the IMF-supported program was satisfactory in the first half of 2020”, the mission noted.
IMF SUPPORTS GEORGIA’S CURRENT MONETARY STANCE
The IMF mission, which completed its 7th review of Georgia’s performance within the Find’s Extended Fund Facility, declared that it “supports the current monetary stance” of Georgia.
At that, the mission pointed that the mentioned stance “should be maintained until there are clear signs that inflation remains on a downward trend in the context of recent lari depreciation”.
IN 4 LARGEST DIRECTIONS OF STATE BUDGET-2021, EDUCATION REPLACED HEALTHCARE
Budgetary Office of Georgian Parliament indicated that according to draft of the state budget-2021, social protection, economic activity, state services of general purpose and education are 4 largest functional directions.
In the state budget-2020, this top four included healthcare instead of education, the Budgetary Office specified.
IN 2019, SHARE OF ENTERPRISES, WHICH OFFERED NEW GOODS OR INTRODUCED NEW SERVICES, PRACTICALLY DID NOT CHANGE
Referring to conducted research, Sakstat reported that during 2019, new or essentially improved goods were offered by 3% of Georgian enterprises (against of 3.2% in 2018).
Similarly, share of enterprises, which introduced new or essentially improved service in the reporting year, made up 3.2% (without change in comparison with 2018).
IN 2019, RATE OF ENTERPRISES’ INTERNET ACCESS INCREASED BY 1 PP
Referring to conducted research, Sakstat reported that as of January 1, 2020, 94% of Georgian enterprises had access to internet. In comparison with the same period of 2019, the rate has increased by 1 percentage point (pp).
